Apple's lawsuit against OpenAI reveals some shocking details: Over 400 former employees have reportedly jumped ship to work at OpenAI. To poach Apple's tech, OpenAI allegedly asked candidates to bring Apple components to their interviews for a 'show and tell.' Former iPhone systems electrical engineer Chang Liu, who joined OpenAI this January, didn’t return his work laptop when he left Apple. Later, he exploited a security loophole to sneak back into Apple’s internal network and downloaded thousands of pages of confidential documents, including detailed manufacturing data for Apple’s complex product circuit boards. In chat logs, he even joked about it with 'LOL' and 'so funny.' Meanwhile, OpenAI’s head of hardware, Tang Tan, who worked at Apple for 24 years and was a former VP of product design, is accused of emailing supplier lists and internal industry summaries to himself before leaving. During interviews with Apple employees, he allegedly used internal project codenames to fish for information, asking questions like 'How’s that project going?' One candidate reportedly took screenshots and downloaded files from a highly confidential project just hours before their interview, and Tan 'coincidentally' asked about the same project during the interview. Apple claims this has become a 'standard practice.' He even distributed Apple’s internal 'Exit Security Process' documents to new hires, teaching them how to dodge scrutiny. He allegedly advised people not to resign too quickly so they could continue accessing confidential information during their two-week notice period.
