[South Korean IT Giant Kakao Union Takes Collective Action Again, One-Day Strike]
According to a report by Jinse Finance on June 29, citing Yonhap News Agency, the union of South Korean IT giant Kakao launched a collective action on the 29th in the form of taking annual leave. The labor and management sides of Kakao failed to reach an agreement on the standards for performance bonus distribution. On the same day, the union carried out collective action by taking annual leave and withdrawing from the company's business systems, urging management to accept the union's demand to pay each employee a bonus of approximately 10 million Korean won (about 44,000 RMB). Participants included employees from Kakao headquarters and four subsidiaries: Kakao Pay, Kakao Enterprise, dk techin, and XLGAMES, with an estimated total of about 3,000 people. This marks the second collective action by the Kakao union following a partial strike earlier this month on the 10th.
