The Central Bank of Brazil has issued new regulations requiring companies applying for cryptocurrency exchange licenses to submit independent audit reports from auditing firms registered with the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) starting June 1, 2026. These reports will focus on evaluating internal control mechanisms such as anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism financing, customer due diligence, and suspicious transaction monitoring. The new rules also mandate that platforms must have the capability to freeze assets of individuals sanctioned by the United Nations, aiming to strengthen compliance oversight in the crypto industry.
