[Trump Says Iran Misjudged the Situation, Believing He Would Fear the Political Consequences of War]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on May 28, U.S. President Trump stated that if Iran thinks he would soften his stance to avoid a prolonged confrontation with Tehran, they are making a miscalculation. Speaking at the start of a Cabinet meeting at the White House on Wednesday, Trump said: 'They think they can outlast me. I don’t care about the midterm elections.'
During the three-month-long conflict between the U.S. and Iran, as the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, inflation rises, and gasoline prices climb, Trump’s approval ratings have declined. Critics have accused Trump of dragging the U.S. into an open-ended Middle Eastern conflict, despite his campaign promises to avoid such wars.
In response, Trump said: 'I don’t call it a war; I call it a conflict.' He hinted that he is prepared to continue negotiations but did not rule out the possibility of further military action. He added that Iran’s economy is on the brink of collapse, with 'an inflation rate as high as 250%.'
