This morning, I met with the Board of Directors and Management Executives of the Urban Development Corporation to set a clear direction for the future of urban development in Jamaica. We are entering a new phase in our national development and that phase must be driven by productivity, efficiency, and results. The UDC cannot simply hold assets; it must actively use them to create value for our country. I have charged the Corporation to fully utilize its land bank and buildings to support economic growth, unlock opportunities, and improve the way our communities are planned and developed. This requires smarter urban planning, better use of space, and a deliberate focus on developments that serve both people and the economy. Every asset must work. Every space must have purpose. That is the standard we are setting for Jamaica’s development going forward.(Andrew Holness)
