[Multiple 'Apollo Go' Vehicles Stalled in Wuhan Streets, Suspected to Have Triggered Safety Self-Check Mechanism] Deep Tide TechFlow reports: On April 1, according to Sina Technology, on the evening of March 31, several 'Apollo Go' autonomous taxis under Baidu were found stalled in the middle of streets in certain areas of Wuhan, unable to move. The Wuhan Public Security Bureau Traffic Management Department issued a notice stating that traffic management and transportation authorities had promptly coordinated with Apollo Go to resolve the situation. All passengers inside the vehicles safely disembarked, and no injuries were reported. The detailed cause is still under investigation. Industry experts speculate that the stalling was likely due to the vehicles encountering unexpected situations and proactively triggering the safety self-check mechanism, which is a system strategy designed to ensure safety. Such measures are not uncommon in the international autonomous driving industry. In December 2025, Google's Waymo autonomous vehicles similarly triggered a 'minimum risk strategy' and stalled in place due to a traffic signal outage. As of the time of publication, Apollo Go has not yet issued a public response.
