[U.S. Department of Justice to Appeal Powell Case Ruling, Potentially Delaying Waller's Appointment] Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on March 14, according to Jintou Data, after a judge dismissed subpoenas issued to the Federal Reserve, U.S. federal prosecutor Pirro vowed to continue investigating Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. This could potentially delay the appointment of Powell's successor, Kevin Waller, as Powell's term is set to end in May. U.S. District Judge James Boasberg stated that the government failed to provide any evidence to justify the subpoenas, which were related to the renovation of the Federal Reserve headquarters and Powell's comments on the project. Pirro remarked, 'This process has been arbitrarily disrupted by a radical judge. The procedure should have proceeded step by step, but it didn’t. They are truly disgraceful.' U.S. Senate Banking Committee member Tillis warned that as long as the Department of Justice's investigation into Powell remains unresolved, he will block any Federal Reserve Chair nominations. 'This ruling confirms how weak and baseless the criminal investigation into Chair Powell is—it’s nothing more than a failed attack on the Federal Reserve's independence,' Tillis stated. 'The appeal will only further delay Kevin Waller’s confirmation as the next Federal Reserve Chair.'
