[7 Malaysian Police Officers Arrested for Extorting 352,000 Yuan in Cryptocurrency from Chinese Tourists]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on February 10, citing Malaysian media via Cover News, seven local Malaysian police officers, along with five other men, broke into a residence in Kajang, Selangor late at night, intimidating and extorting Chinese tourists. They ultimately forced the victims to transfer approximately 200,000 Malaysian Ringgit (around 352,000 Yuan) in cryptocurrency. Following an investigation, the police acted swiftly and successfully arrested the officers involved.
Sources revealed that the incident occurred around 11 PM on February 5 at a residence in Country Heights, Kajang. That evening, eight Chinese tourists were resting inside the house when 12 men suddenly broke in. Among them, some were wearing police reflective jackets and presented police identification, claiming to be officers.
Currently, the police have classified the case as armed robbery involving a group and are investigating under Section 395 of the Penal Code. Additionally, the police will apply for a remand order from the local court to assist in further investigations.
