China's natural population growth rate is set to decline for the fourth consecutive year in 2025 ⬇️. The number of births in 2025 will be only 7.92 million, with a birth rate of 5.63‰, hitting the lowest level since data records began in 1949. In 2025, the nationwide death toll will reach 11.31 million, with a mortality rate of 8.04‰; the natural population growth rate will be -2.41‰. China's global birth rate is now likely ranked second-to-last , just behind South Korea. The total population is also ranked second, following India. However, at this rate, the total population will soon drop below 1.4 billion and eventually fall below 1 billion. Elon Musk has posted multiple times about finding ways to boost birth rates. If birth rates remain low for a long time, it could lead to the collapse of human civilization.
