The Graph's Horizon upgrade expands Indexer economics from single-service operators to multi-service providers in a growing data economy.
For Indexers, staking now happens per data service. Want to serve Substreams? Stake GRT in that service. Token API? Separate stake. Each service has independent fee markets and demand profiles. One Indexer can now earn across multiple revenue streams instead of just Subgraphs.
Long-lived allocations replace mandatory 28-day cycles. Present proof of indexing every 7-14 days to collect rewards instead of constantly opening and closing allocations. This cuts down onchain transactions and improves service reliability.
Plus, Horizon introduces rewards eligibility thresholds for availability, sync speed, and query latency. These requirements came from the Indexer community to ensure The Graph rewards providers delivering verifiable, high-performing infrastructure. Better data quality strengthens the entire network's reputation.(The Graph)
