[SlowMist Founder Yu Jian: Zcash's Privacy Model is More Acceptable to Regulators, While Monero Remains More 'Hardcore' in Strong Privacy]
Odaily Planet Daily News – SlowMist founder Yu Jian stated in a post that recent opinions suggesting 'a large proportion of Zcash transactions can be tracked' are not new. Zcash's privacy model has adopted an 'optional privacy' design since its inception: z-addresses provide strong privacy, while t-addresses are transparent and traceable.
Yu Jian pointed out that because of this, Zcash is more acceptable to regulators compared to Monero, which defaults to strong privacy. Currently, the Zcash addresses used on mainstream platforms are almost all t-addresses, reflecting that 'the group with a genuine strong demand for privacy is very small, while platforms need to cater more to regulatory requirements.'
He believes that in terms of privacy strength, Monero remains the more 'hardcore' privacy asset, but Zcash's design strikes a better balance between privacy and regulation, potentially paving a 'wider path.' Yu Jian also added an analogy: Bitcoin is like HTTP, Zcash is like a coexistence of HTTP/HTTPS, and Monero is akin to pure HTTPS.
