[SlowMist Yu Jian: Zcash is not default-enforced privacy, its balanced design is more understandable to regulators]
PANews, December 10 – SlowMist founder Yu Jian stated in an article that a high proportion of Zcash transactions can be tracked, which is not a new revelation. During the previous cycle when the concept of privacy coins was trending, Zcash was already like this. It does not enforce privacy by default but allows users to choose. For example, addresses starting with 'z' offer strong privacy, while those starting with 't' are transparent and traceable.
This design makes Zcash more understandable to regulators compared to privacy coins like Monero (XMR), which enforces strong privacy by default. Currently, most Zcash addresses on mainstream platforms start with 't,' indicating that the group genuinely concerned about privacy is very, very small. Catering to regulation seems to be the way forward for platforms. Compared to the truly hardcore Monero, Zcash's privacy design strikes a better balance, potentially paving a broader path for its future.
