Financial giants increase investment in Bitcoin: signals of a $1 billion fund and high position accumulation.

At the moment of drastic price fluctuations, two treasury entities focused on Bitcoin choose to increase their exposure simultaneously instead of contracting it: on one side, Strive directly took action in the secondary market, recently purchasing an additional 1,110 bitcoins with a total investment of about $81.5 million, at an average purchase price of about $73,409 per coin, increasing its holdings to 21,356 coins; on the other side, Strategy (STRC) is not in a hurry to increase its holdings immediately, but instead sets up an "arsenal" under the digital credit capital framework—announcing a fund of $1 billion dedicated to purchasing bitcoins and an additional USD Cash liquidity pool, expanding its dollar reserves to $5.1 billion, so that it can act flexibly in the future depending on price and market conditions. More importantly, the two companies are not acting in isolation: as of August 21st, Strive holds 505,000 preferred shares in Strategy, directly holding bitcoins on the asset side and binding equity to the Bitcoin treasury company, forming a kind of dual-exposure structural bet. In the context of high inflation and high interest rates over the past few years, this synchronized layout with equity connections between treasuries points not to short-term trading, but to institutions further confirming Bitcoin's long-term allocation status on company balance sheets and locking in dollar liquidity in advance to ensure they have "bullets to fire" during future rounds of corrections and easing cycles.

Strive buys 1,110 BTC at a high

Recently, Strive's chairman and CEO Matt Cole revealed on social media that the company has bought an additional 1,110 bitcoins, investing about $81.5 million at a unit price of about $73,409 per coin, and stated that they had submitted an 8-K filing to the SEC disclosing relevant information. With this position, Strive now holds a total of 21,356 bitcoins and chooses to make a one-time significant investment in a multi-billion dollar asset exposure at a time when prices are still at historically high levels and volatility is increasing, which essentially pushes the sensitivity of its balance sheet regarding bitcoin's gains and losses to a higher price range: if Bitcoin drops below around $70,000 in the future, the newly bought chips will quickly experience a paper loss, while the overall position's "comfort zone" will also shift upward; this is not a decision made for a few thousand dollars of volatility, but rather an action to write their long-term allocation stance into the financial report with real costs.

From a market structure perspective, this batch of new chips with a cost near $73,000 will have opposite price effects in different cycles: during a pullback period, if prices remain below this range, some institutions may choose to reduce their positions for risk management purposes, and high-cost chips may turn into temporary selling pressure; however, during an uptrend, once Bitcoin stabilizes and even significantly breaks through this range, holdings like Strive's might be closer to a "long-term lock-up," not in a hurry to realize profits in a slightly higher range than the purchase price; rather, they may solidify the $70,000 to $75,000 area as a psychological price anchor in the new cycle, making it necessary for other funds assessing Bitcoin's center to incorporate the signal that "institutions are willing to hold above $70,000" into their pricing models.

Strategy launches $1 billion fund and USD Cash

If Strive is a direct buyer raising prices in the market, Strategy is more like the one rewriting the rules behind the scenes. It did not hastily increase its positions, but first announced the creation of a $1 billion fund dedicated to buying bitcoins, and simultaneously opened a USD Cash liquidity pool within the digital credit capital framework. Unlike USD Reserve, which was originally responsible only for preferred stock dividends and unpaid debt interest, USD Cash is a "general use" ammunition depot: it can be allocated to buy bitcoins, pay dividends and interest, repurchase common or preferred stocks, repay convertible bonds, or even simply replenish the dollar reserves. The functionality is deliberately made broad enough to allow management to switch flexibly between "buying coins" and "adjusting capital structure," moving the same liquidity back and forth between the asset and equity sides.

Numerically, Strategy's dollar reserves have increased to $5.1 billion, with an additional $1 billion specifically allocated for purchasing bitcoins, which adds a layer of aggressive budget aimed at the cryptocurrency market on top of the existing safety cushion. In the week prior to announcing the establishment of USD Cash, its Bitcoin holding did not change, indicating that this step was first about reconstructing pockets and authority before slowly deciding how to spend money. In terms of the demand curve for Bitcoin, this kind of design will not immediately reflect on-chain transaction volume, but will change the depth and rhythm of potential buying: every time there is a deep price drop, the market will anticipate whether the decision-making team behind this $1 billion and $5.1 billion reserves will activate the "from USD Cash to Bitcoin" channel, making the price elasticity more likely to exhibit an upward steep jump rather than a slow decline with no one to support it. For Bitcoin, this effectively embeds a floor of treasury buying pressure that can be activated anytime below the spot price.

Dual Betting Between Treasuries: Equity Connection and Risk Linkage

Strive is both a treasury entity that directly holds 21,356 bitcoins and a holder of 505,000 preferred shares of Strategy; both companies are configured around Bitcoin assets and dollar reserves, which gives Strive a multi-layer exposure to the same underlying asset through “asset side + equity side.” Strategy ties its profitability and dividend capacity to the Bitcoin trend through the $1 billion cryptocurrency fund and the USD Cash liquidity pool, while Strive, as a preferred shareholder, is essentially betting on the volatility of its own Bitcoin treasury to add a layer of credit and dividend expectation for another Bitcoin treasury company.

Once Bitcoin rises unilaterally, every part of the chain benefits: Strive's on-paper Bitcoin appreciation increases, Strategy's Bitcoin holdings and expectations of future purchasing space elevate the pricing of its preferred and common stocks, and the preferred shares held by Strive are revalued due to enhanced dividend safety margins, ultimately achieving multiple layers of profit accumulation in the same market cycle. However, when prices quickly retract, this structure will also amplify pressure: a decline in Bitcoin price weakens Strategy’s balance sheet flexibility, with USD Cash leaning more towards "conservative defense" rather than continuing to increase positions, and concerns about its dividend capability and refinancing capacity will first be reflected in stock prices and preferred stock valuations, and then feedback to Strive's asset and equity side, forcing it to more quickly enter a deleveraging mode in its financial reports, positions, and equity investments. From a market structure perspective, when multiple treasuries are interconnected through equity, funds, and dollar pools, uptrends are more likely to show synchronized "confirmation-enhanced" accumulations, while in downtrends, if one link experiences risk contraction, it may trigger passive reductions or halts across treasuries, making Bitcoin's price fluctuations more characterized by "chain reactions."

Institutional Bitcoin Dollar-Cost Averaging Amid Macroeconomic Volatility

In the past few years, amid high inflation, relatively high interest rates, and sovereign credit disputes, the reality faced by corporate treasuries is: rising duration risk in treasury bonds, cash's real returns being eroded by inflation, and the potential for a mid-long-term monetary easing cycle to restart at any time. Bitcoin has been reshaped by some institutions as "digital gold" and a long-term store of value, with an increasing number of cases where corporate treasuries hold Bitcoin directly or even amplify exposure through financial instruments. Strategy's division of dollar reserves into two pools, USD Reserve and USD Cash, is an attempt to institutionalize its allocation under the simultaneous backdrop of high interest rates and inflation expectations, clearly differentiating the "rigid safety pool that must pay preferred stock dividends and debt interest on time" (USD Reserve) and the "flexible chips that can be maneuvered into risk assets like Bitcoin or equity repurchases" (USD Cash), and then establishing a $1 billion Bitcoin purchase fund on this basis, officially writing Bitcoin into the long-term asset allocation framework of treasury.

Within this framework, Strive chooses to continue increasing its holdings—recently purchasing an additional 1,110 bitcoins, with a total investment of about $81.5 million at an average purchase price of about $73,409 per coin, raising its total holdings to 21,356 coins—at price levels that are volatile but not low, resembling a "dollar-cost averaging" strategy rather than a short-term timing trade. For the market, this type of treasury buying based on asset allocation rather than short-term price signals will reshape pricing on two levels: first, it provides relatively stable mid-long-term demand curves for mainstream assets like BTC and ETH, compressing the pure emotion-driven risk premium, making their volatility closer to that of "tech stocks + gold" as mixed assets rather than isolated speculative targets; second, because these treasuries' balance sheets and stock prices, debt costs are highly anchored to the US equity market, the correlation between Bitcoin and US tech stocks in terms of funding sources and risk preferences is further locked in—during uptrends, correlations strengthen and risk premiums are compressed; in downtrends, if treasuries tighten USD Cash for safety reasons, slowing or even pausing dollar-cost averaging will amplify the bearish impact. Whether these "dollar-cost averaging" treasury funds continue to fulfill commitments will directly influence the pricing coordinates of Bitcoin and Ethereum in the global spectrum of risk assets.

A Few Deductions Regarding BTC and Cryptocurrency Asset Pricing

Strive raises its holdings to 21,356 BTC at around $73,409, combined with Strategy's reserved $1 billion for Bitcoin purchases and $5.1 billion in dollar reserves, essentially elevating a "potential buying floor" near the existing price range: should there be a deep price pullback, this type of treasury that has publicly raised ammunition is more likely to be viewed by the market as a natural buyer, thereby uplifting mid-long-term effective demand for BTC and establishing a psychological range of "someone is below." In terms of pricing, this will boost institutions' long-term fair value anchor for Bitcoin and may compress the space between the risk-free rate and BTC risk premium—once Bitcoin is "repriced" by institutions on their balance sheets, ETH and on-chain high beta assets will often be re-evaluated through the risk preference chain: Bitcoin is viewed as a more stable long-term storage asset, while ETH is more likely to be repackaged into "infrastructure + cash flow" narratives, causing discount rates for DeFi, L2, and certain on-chain assets to decline, and the market is more willing to amplify future growth expectations during bull market phases. However, the premise of all this is whether Strategy's $1 billion actual acquisition rhythm and the tactical allocation of USD Cash between "buying coins vs. repurchasing equity, repaying debt" continuously lean toward BTC; how Strive handles the impairment and volatility risks of high-cost positions in future financial reports; and whether on-chain funding flows and off-market price curves provide feedback that "institutional buying is being realized." These three clues will determine whether this round of treasury increase is merely a narrative premium or sufficient to change the real incremental structure of Bitcoin and broadly quoted cryptocurrency asset pricing.
