AI traffic surpasses humans, the opportunity for encrypted payments has arrived.

According to data disclosed by the well-known internet infrastructure and security service provider Cloudflare during its earnings conference call, non-human traffic on the internet has officially surpassed human traffic. Even more astonishingly, Cloudflare predicts that in five years, non-human traffic on the internet will be 1,000 times that of human traffic.

In other words, the future direct contribution of humans to internet traffic will be negligible.

This is not only a turning point of the information age, but also a turning point of the intelligent age---from here on, the main character of the information age shifts from humans to AI, and AI officially steps onto the historical stage.

To better understand the reasons and intrinsic mechanisms behind this shift, we can look at an extremely ordinary online shopping case. Although ordinary, it clearly reflects the huge differences in online behavior between humans and AI.

When shopping for a product online, the main behavioral patterns of humans have two points:

First, they may have a special fondness for a certain brand due to advertising;

Second, after finding a product online, they generally select from a limited (for example, the top five) brands with the best sales.

However, AI is different; it can comprehensively search all brands based solely on objective data, avoiding the allure of advertisements;

When searching for products, AI can exhaust all network links until it finds the most suitable and cost-effective target.

In this case,

- Advertisements specifically targeting human attention will no longer be suitable for AI in the future, which will greatly disrupt the advertising industry and affect almost all internet giants that rely on advertising revenue.

- For humans, attention is scarce, but for AI, attention has no meaning; the models suitable for AI may not yet exist or are still in their infancy.

- Just in a simple shopping behavior, the operations of AI on the internet far exceed those of humans, thus extending to broader fields, making it easier to understand the logic of AI surpassing humans.

- Additionally, unlike humans who need aesthetically pleasing pages and sensory experiences when obtaining information, AI only requires the simplest APIs to access information directly.

From the above example, it is evident that whether in the means of acquiring information or the methods of obtaining it, AI has significant differences from humans.

When AI begins to surpass humans and become the main character of the internet, the architecture of the internet must adapt to this trend and accommodate its "new master," AI.

Therefore, the architecture of the internet is likely to undergo significant changes in the future.

The internet that is more suitable for AI to access and obtain information will dominate in the future virtual world. The internet that we humans browse now will still exist in the future, but its proportion in the virtual world may become smaller and may even be negligible in relative terms.

The first layer that the internet carries is information, and below the information layer is payment and digital assets.

If the information layer has reached a turning point----------where AI begins to be the main character, then the payment layer and asset layer must also reach a turning point---the payment methods used by AI and the digital assets utilized by AI will inevitably become the main characters.

I believe that the payment methods used by AI will be on-chain payments based on blockchain. The digital assets used by AI, I believe, will be encrypted assets based on blockchain technology-----------which now somewhat resembles stablecoins, but I have a vague feeling that there may be changes in the future; I even wonder whether it could be the chain's native token rather than a token pegged to the dollar.

No matter whether this digital asset is a stablecoin or the native token of the chain, it all constitutes on-chain payments.

Currently, there are no detailed and precise statistics regarding AI's on-chain payments, and we cannot determine the respective proportions of AI payments and human payments in the current on-chain payments. However, I believe that this day will certainly come, perhaps it has already arrived but we just don't know it yet.

In short, this data from Cloudflare is highly significant; it not only heralds a turning point for the internet but also signals a turning point for encrypted payments and encrypted assets.
