With whale transactions surging and the amount of LINK controlled by major holders continuing to rise, Chainlink is witnessing its strongest spike in large-holder activity in five months. The most recent data indicates that large wallets have also been building up supply, in contrast to a singular transaction spike.
Whale are taking control
Chainlink recorded 246 transactions totaling at least $100,000 in a single day, according to Santiment data. The number of LINK transactions totaling $100,000 or more has increased daily since March, marking a dramatic shift from the significantly lower whale activity seen for the majority of the preceding weeks.

Exchange deposits, withdrawals, internal wallet movements, and redistribution between addresses can all be represented by large transfers. The current spike, however, is given more weight by the accompanying supply data.

Approximately 466.31 million tokens are currently controlled by wallets holding between 100,000 and 10 million LINK. This amounts to 46.57% of Chainlink's entire supply. According to the chart, this cohort's holdings have been rising over the past few weeks, with another increase occurring around the most recent transaction spike.
Link's market performance
This combination implies that rather than broadly reducing exposure, the increase in whale activity is taking place as key LINK stakeholders increase their balances. This cohort's behavior can be used as an on-chain sentiment indicator because changes in it have historically tracked fairly closely to LINK's market performance. The accumulation has a solid fundamental backdrop as well.
Through the Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol, or CCIP, Chainlink continues to grow beyond its conventional oracle role. It is also becoming more involved in tokenized assets, stablecoins, institutional data delivery, and cross-chain infrastructure. These areas place LINK in close proximity to a number of the segments that are presently attracting significant institutional attention.
Nevertheless, a quick LINK rally is not guaranteed by 246 whale transactions. The metric does not identify the direction of every transfer; rather, it identifies abnormally high activity. The combination of a five-month high in whale transactions and the concurrent growth of large-wallet balances is the more significant signal.
For the time being, this combination suggests that some of Chainlink's most powerful holders are becoming more engaged and are accumulating. The current spike may prove to be more significant than a brief surge in on-chain activity if their share of supply continues to increase.
