Key Takeaways

  • Blackrock’s IBIT led $170.09M into bitcoin ETFs, with 7 funds gaining and none seeing outflows.
  • Ether ETFs lost $11.42M while XRP gained $1.15M, widening the institutional demand split.
  • Intesa Sanpaolo cut IBIT shares 93.7%, signaling August positioning may stay selective.

Fresh August allocations arrived quickly. Investors directed more than $170 million into bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) during a broad session that lifted nearly every active product, giving the market a firm opening after bitcoin funds ended July with a weekly loss.

Ether followed a different path. Withdrawals from several major funds outweighed demand for Blackrock and Morgan Stanley products.

Blackrock’s IBIT captured $111.43 million, accounting for almost two-thirds of the category’s daily net inflow. Fidelity’s FBTC returned to positive territory with a $33.36 million addition. Franklin Templeton’s EZBC attracted $9.23 million, and Invesco’s BTCO received $6.67 million.

Vaneck’s HODL added $4.52 million. Bitwise’s BITB and ARK 21Shares’ ARKB completed the gains with inflows of $2.77 million and $2.12 million, respectively. No bitcoin ETF posted a withdrawal. Total trading value reached $2.11 billion, the largest turnover among the tracked crypto ETF categories. Combined net assets closed at $77.58 billion.

Ether ETFs recorded a mixed session, resulting in an $11.42 million net outflow. Blackrock’s ETHA lost $9.03 million, followed by a $7.84 million exit from Grayscale’s ETHE. Fidelity’s FETH shed about $931,000.

Inflows of $5.78 million into Blackrock’s ETHB and roughly $603,000 into Morgan Stanley’s MSSE softened the decline. Ether ETF trading value totaled $519.90 million, with net assets ending at $10.23 billion.

XRP ETFs attracted $1.15 million, with the entire inflow allocated to Canary Capital’s XRPC. Trading value reached $9.99 million, and total net assets closed at $1.01 billion.

HYPE ETFs returned to outflows after a quiet session. Grayscale’s HYPG lost about $964,000, taking combined net assets down to $253.23 million. Total value traded was $10.30 million.

Solana ETFs reported no net creations or redemptions. Existing shares still generated secondary-market activity, while total net assets closed at $871.90 million.

The day’s bitcoin inflow arrived as Intesa Sanpaolo disclosed a major shift in its quarter-end crypto ETF holdings. The Italian banking group reduced its common IBIT position by 93.7% between March 31 and June 30, leaving 40,723 shares. It also reported a new put position tied to 500,000 underlying IBIT shares.

Its iShares Staked Ethereum Trust holding rose from 116,200 to 349,600 shares, while its Bitwise Solana Staking ETF position fell from 2,817 shares to seven. Intesa Sanpaolo’s filing offers only a quarter-end snapshot and does not reveal the bank’s complete options structure or net exposure.

Monday’s flows showed demand returning to bitcoin through a wide group of issuers. Ether faced renewed selling, and activity across smaller crypto funds remained measured.
