The globally leading digital asset trading platform Gate has officially launched a new trading product - event contracts. This product is designed around "price direction judgment," allowing users to bypass complex settings like leverage and margin. Users only need to determine the price trend of assets like BTC and ETH over a future period to complete trades, providing a simpler and more intuitive way to participate in short-cycle markets. Event contracts are now available on the Gate App version 8.28.5, where users can experience this product in the event contract section on the contract page.

The first batch of event contracts supports the two mainstream digital assets BTC and ETH, covering multiple time cycles of 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, and 4 hours. Each event focuses on the price direction of the underlying asset within a specified time period, requiring users to simply select bullish or bearish to participate in trading. After the event concludes, the system will automatically settle based on actual results; users can also buy or sell their positions at any time according to market price changes, securing profits or controlling risks without waiting for the event to end, thereby enhancing trading flexibility.

In terms of trading mechanics, event contracts use a probabilistic pricing model, with the price of each contract ranging from 0.01 to 0.99 USDT, corresponding to the market's expectation of the event's outcome probability. For example, 0.65 USDT indicates that the market believes there is about a 65% probability of that outcome occurring. The minimum trade amount for the product is only 1.5 USDT, further lowering the participation threshold, allowing users to flexibly choose different price ranges for trading based on their own judgment.

Compared to traditional contract products, event contracts do not provide leverage, nor do they have margin calls or forced liquidation mechanisms. The maximum loss for users is limited to the amount paid when purchasing the contract, clearly defining the risk boundary. If the event result aligns with the user's judgment, the winning contracts held will be settled at a rate of 1 USDT per contract after the event ends, with no settlement fees charged by the platform; if the judgment is incorrect, the corresponding contract value becomes zero.

At the same time, Gate is launching the event contract first launch carnival event. The event will start on July 21 at 10:00 (UTC+8), with a total reward value of 50,000 US dollars, featuring three gameplay aspects: first order loss compensation, profit rewards, and trading volume incentives. Users who complete registration and participate in event contract trading will have the opportunity to receive corresponding rewards, further lowering the entry barrier for new users and increasing product participation.
