This question involves how to view innovation and its implementation.

Many times, the realization and eruption of innovation carry a significant degree of randomness, making it often difficult to predict specific time points and triggering events in advance.

Therefore, one cannot assume that once innovation is discovered, it will immediately generate a feasible business model and application scenarios, or even create real, visible value and cash flow.

So what should we do at that time?

My approach is to continue tracking and then patiently wait.

In the crypto ecosystem, such cases are ubiquitous.

Bitcoin was launched in January 2009, but it wasn't until May 2010, nearly a year and a half later, that the first person (a programmer) used it to buy a pizza, providing Bitcoin with a strong initial consensus of value, which then grew and expanded into what we see today.

Before that programmer was the first to take the plunge, no one knew how Bitcoin would develop or whether it could have value.

Ethereum was launched in 2015, but the first ICO that triggered a huge explosion in its ecosystem occurred in 2017, two years later. Between 2015 and 2017, no one knew the purpose of EVM, what smart contracts could do, let alone what value Ethereum had. No one could have predicted that the first significant eruption of value for Ethereum would occur through an ICO, a financing form that didn't even exist in real life.

CryptoPunks emerged at the end of 2017 and were initially given away for free; just applying for a wallet allowed you to obtain one. No one knew what those ten thousand avatars were for; at most, they seemed to be something produced by a group of "bored" people in some unremarkable corner of the virtual world with no apparent value. They weren't even considered game items and were even less valuable than game items.

It wasn't until four years later, in 2021, when NFTs rose to prominence that people suddenly felt this once "boring" thing had value.

But no one could have guessed that the CryptoPunks created using ERC-20 tokens would be ignited by a completely different technology, ERC-721.

Uniswap was launched in 2018.

However, during the two years following its launch, very few people paid attention. What value does exchanging ETH and ERC-20 tokens hold?

Why should one use it?

Isn't it easier to just buy any coin directly on a CEX?

It wasn't until the summer of 2020 when Compound issued its token, triggering a massive explosion of governance tokens in the DeFi ecosystem, that people realized, in the face of a surge of token explosions, that CEXs were far inferior to Uniswap in terms of token listing efficiency and trading convenience.

Only then did people deeply appreciate the value of Uniswap.

But before that, no one could foresee that Compound would issue a token, nor could anyone predict that this action would ultimately trigger the explosion of Uniswap.

Looking back:

If it weren't for that programmer buying pizza with twenty thousand Bitcoin, the existence of ICOs, ERC-721, and Compound issuing tokens—these extremely random actions—could we have reached today?

Could anyone involved back then have anticipated these coincidental actions?

Clearly not; no one could foresee them.

Because aside from the action of buying pizza, which perhaps has a corresponding scene in real life, the other actions have no precedent in real life, completely devoid of historical examples, purely native innovations of the crypto ecosystem.

Thus, it's challenging to predict when and how certain innovations in the crypto ecosystem will truly land and generate value; we can only patiently wait.

But I firmly believe in one thing:

Many (though not all) innovations will ultimately trigger a new business model and new application scenarios at some point, in some ways that we could never anticipate, thereby creating value.

So I will focus on innovations within the ecosystem, track their development, and patiently await their day.
