PANews April 30 news, according to Jinshi report, Federal Reserve Chairman Powell stated at a press conference that although someone voted against keeping the wording of the accommodative stance unchanged in the recent monetary policy meeting, he believes that officials are not inclined to raise interest rates. Powell said: “People are not saying that we need to raise interest rates now, but rather discussing the question of whether the Federal Reserve should maintain a neutral stance on the policy outlook.” Powell also stated that monetary policy may be in a range that has a neutral impact on the economy. He said: “I think we are very close to the neutral interest rate, which may be in the range of 3% to 4%, while the current federal funds target rate range is 3.5% to 3.75%.” He added: “If we need to raise rates, we will signal and raise rates, and vice versa.”
