PANews April 29 news, according to The Block report, U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan rejected the retrial request made by FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), stating that his claims are "unfounded and extremely conspiratorial." SBF had previously claimed that new evidence showed FTX was solvent, but the judge pointed out that he could have obtained or compelled witnesses to testify but took no action, and his statement that the absence of witnesses was due to government threats and retaliation was completely contradicted by the records. SBF was found guilty on seven counts of fraud in November 2023 and was sentenced to 25 years in prison. He had previously withdrawn the motion for a retrial, and the appeal is still being processed.
