Let's talk about the meditation thoughts under the big tree tonight, "Investment is a conversation with time."

At eleven o'clock at night, the city gradually quiets down. I brought a yoga mat to the thickest tree in the community park. This tree is at least several decades old, its bark rough, its branches and leaves lush, casting mottled shadows under the streetlights.

Sitting cross-legged, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. The night air carried the fresh scent of grass and trees, with the occasional sounds of insects and frogs croaking from the pond nearby. At this moment, it seemed like the world consisted only of me and this tree.

During meditation, thoughts often drift away. Tonight, they drifted towards investment.

Don't we resemble this tree in our investments?

Rooting down is the sediment of cognition.

The tree's root system is buried deep underground, unseen by people, yet it determines how high it can grow and how long it can live. It silently absorbs nutrients and moisture from the soil, regardless of whether the surface is favorable or suffering from droughts and floods.

The "roots" of investment are our understanding of the industry, the company, and the essence of business. It is the accumulation of countless nights of reading, thinking, and research, the investment framework and principles that have been established. This part of the work is tedious, long, and offers no immediate returns. Like the roots of the tree, we wouldn't rejoice just because it grew a millimeter today. Yet, it is these invisible "roots" that determine whether our investment portfolio will be uprooted during market storms or remain steady.

Growing upwards is a patient waiting.

A tree does not grow into a towering giant overnight. It goes through the seasons, budding in spring, flourishing in summer, shedding leaves in autumn, and hibernating in winter. It does not rush for success; it simply follows the rhythm of nature, completing one year cycle after another.

The "growth" of investment is the power of compound interest. It requires time and patience. When we invest in a good company, it is like planting a seed. We cannot expect it to bloom and bear fruit by tomorrow. We need to give it time to grow alongside the development of the business. Market fluctuations, like the changing of the seasons, are inevitable. A bull market is summer, when everyone is cheerful; a bear market is winter, when everything is desolate. But true investors know how to hibernate in winter, sow seeds in spring, rather than chase highs in summer and panic in autumn.

Lush branches and leaves display a grand vision.

When a tree grows tall enough, its branches and leaves stretch towards a wider sky, providing shade for more people. Its value is no longer just in itself, but in its impact on the entire ecosystem.

The "lush branches and leaves" of investment represent our investment vision and outlook. When I no longer focus solely on the daily gains and losses of my account, but start to consider how investments align with social value and trends of the times, my perspective broadens. What I invest in is no longer just codes and numbers, but the future we believe in. This vision allows us to remain clear-headed amidst the market noise, stay fearful when others are greedy, and remain greedy when others are fearful.

After the meditation, I opened my eyes and looked at the silent tree before me. It still stood there quietly, as if nothing had happened, yet as if it had just engaged in a profound conversation with me.

Investment might just be such a conversation with time. We learn patience from time, learn laws from nature, and learn tranquility from within.

May we all be like this tree, rooting down and growing upwards, living out our desired selves in the long river of time, and reaping the rich gifts that time brings.
