US Media: Iran Proposes Agreement to Reopen Strait to US, But Delays Nuclear Negotiations
According to AXIOS, citing a US official and two knowledgeable sources, Iran has proposed a new initiative to the US, suggesting that priority be given to reaching an agreement on the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and lifting maritime blockages, and postponing nuclear negotiations to a later stage. This new proposal aims to break the current negotiation deadlock and bypass internal divisions within Iran’s leadership regarding the concessions it is willing to make for an agreement with the Trump administration. Three US officials revealed that President Trump is expected to hold a war room meeting with his senior national security and foreign policy team on the Iran issue on Monday. One official stated that the meeting is expected to discuss the stalemate in negotiations with Iran and the next steps that could be taken regarding the war.
Senator Tillis Ends Months of Obstruction, Clears Path for Warsh to be Fed Chair
North Carolina Republican Senator Thom Tillis stated on Sunday local time that he will support the nomination of Kevin Warsh as Federal Reserve Chair, thereby clearing the last major obstacle for Trump’s chosen successor to Powell. Tillis had refused to vote in favor of Warsh for months, stating that he would not push for the confirmation of any Fed nominee while the Justice Department's criminal investigation into Powell was ongoing, calling the criminal investigation an attack on the independence of the central bank, but it appears the investigation ended last Friday.

Progress of Cryptocurrency Market Structure Bill Stalled, May 25 Seen as Key Date
The recent public progress on the cryptocurrency market structure bill has been limited, and May 25, Memorial Day, is seen as a key time frame for advancing legislation. Market opinions suggest that if this window is missed, the bill may face further obstacles as the summer campaign season begins.
Topics including stablecoin yields, DeFi sales behaviors, etc., are still under discussion. Last week, over 100 institutions jointly urged the Senate Banking Committee to initiate the proposal review process, pushing the Clarity Act into the next phase. The market structure legislation aims to solidify cryptocurrency regulatory rules into law to reduce future policy reversal risks.
The US Department of Justice has charged US Special Forces soldier Gannon Ken Van Dyke, accusing him of using classified intelligence to illegally profit over $400,000 by predicting a US raid on Venezuela on the prediction market platform Polymarket.
According to CNN's latest disclosures, Trump seems to have shifted his attitude on the matter, comparing the soldier's betting on Maduro's downfall to baseball star Pete Rose predicting his team's victory, responding with a light touch. Trump stated, "It's like Rose predicting his team wins. If he predicts he loses, that's bad, but he predicts he wins, I will investigate."
Furthermore, in light of Trump's support for Rose, at least a few of Trump's allies have expressed that Trump should pardon this soldier.
The options open interest (OI) of BlackRock's Bitcoin spot ETF IBIT rose to $27.61 billion on Friday, surpassing the $26.9 billion of the Bitcoin options market at cryptocurrency derivatives platform Deribit for the first time.
According to Volmex data, IBIT call options positions mainly bet on the Bitcoin price rising to $109,709 in the short term, about 41% higher than the current level of about $77,400; while markets on Deribit expect Bitcoin to rise to about $106,000. Meanwhile, the average expiration date of IBIT options is about two months longer than Deribit, indicating that investors in the regulated US market are more inclined toward long-term holding and stronger bullish sentiment, further highlighting that the institutionalization trend in the Bitcoin market is accelerating.

Regulatory Trends
The Hong Kong police disclosed they have solved a cross-border telephone fraud case where the criminal group posed as mainland officials, specifically targeting mainland students studying in the UK and Australia. The fraudsters falsely claimed that the victims were involved in money laundering and other criminal cases, demanding their "cooperation with the investigation," and having them come to Hong Kong to purchase gold granules from jewelers multiple times as "collateral," with each amount not exceeding 120,000 HKD to evade gold shop registration systems, later collected and transferred by group members. The stolen gold was then melted into bars or exchanged for cash and virtual currency. Police have received a total of 7 related cases, involving approximately 7 million HKD, with the highest loss of a single case reaching 1.6 million HKD.
The US Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that a 22-year-old man from California, Evan Tangeman, has been sentenced to 70 months (approximately 5 years and 10 months) in prison for participating in a criminal organization that stole approximately $263 million in cryptocurrency through social engineering fraud and break-ins.
According to the indictment materials, Tangeman pleaded guilty in December 2025, admitting to assisting the criminal network in laundering at least $3.5 million in illegal funds.
The criminal group was accused of using the stolen funds for luxury consumption, including million-dollar nightclub bills, Lamborghinis, Rolex watches, and other high-end assets.
District Attorney Jeanine Pirro in Washington D.C. stated that the organization "constructed a criminal system with nearly absurd greed," emphasizing that Tangeman not only participated in money laundering but also destroyed evidence after his accomplices were arrested, indicating a clear awareness of the crime.
This sentence comes at a time when data shows that in the first quarter of 2026, the cryptocurrency industry has already lost $482 million due to scams and hacking attacks, with social engineering fraud and offline violent robbery cases on the rise.
Voices of People
JPMorgan’s Head of ETF Products Ciarán Fitzpatrick stated, “We believe that tokenization will definitely drive market changes, not only for ETFs but for the entire fund industry as well.” Ciarán Fitzpatrick pointed out that given the numerous benefits tokenization could bring, such as more convenient subscription and redemption, “near-instant settlement,” and continuous access, experiments with ETF tokenization are still ongoing. He added, “I believe tokenization will become part of the ETF ecosystem, but it will take several years before good practical cases emerge.”
Aave Founder: Sufficient Recovery Fund Raised to Fully Fill rsETH Gap
Aave founder Stani stated on platform X: “We have now raised enough recovery funds to fully fill the rsETH gap, but we need to wait for pending votes, indicative agreements, and successful executions.”
Kalshi’s cryptocurrency head John Wang responded to the controversies surrounding insider trading in prediction markets on platform X, stating, “I believe this is a very important issue, but it does not only exist in prediction markets. The stock market is essentially a prediction market about companies' future performance, and there has been a long exploration and iteration on the boundaries between 'legal information advantages' and 'illegal use of significant non-public information.' The role of regulation is to find that balance point. Just like the stock market, insider trading is a complex issue that requires fine-tuned solutions, but it is not insurmountable. I also agree that, when scaling operations, it is very necessary to introduce mechanisms like KYC and market surveillance to help prevent insider trading. Therefore, we have adopted such practices at Kalshi since day one.
