PANews April 24 news, the Trump administration has extended the transportation exemption related to the Jones Act for 90 days, aimed at making the transportation of oil, fuel, and fertilizers within the United States more convenient. This decision extends the existing exemption period, which was set to expire on May 17, by about three months, allowing foreign-flagged vessels to transport goods between U.S. ports until mid-August. Typically, under the Jones Act of 1920, goods transported by water between domestic U.S. ports must use vessels that are flagged in the United States and are built and owned by Americans. Trump's exemption temporarily lifted these restrictions on coal, crude oil, refined oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids, fertilizers, and other energy derivatives.
