PANews April 18 news, according to Hong Kong media Sing Tao Headlines, there has been progress in a gang rape case in Hong Kong, where two mainland men were charged with sexually assaulting a drunken woman at a hotel in Mong Kok in November 2025. The case was originally scheduled for trial while the defendants were in custody. Recently, the prosecution applied to withdraw the charges in the West Kowloon Magistrates' Court and was approved. One of the defendants' applications for legal costs was granted. The magistrate believed that although the two admitted to having sexual relations with the victim, it did not constitute "self-incrimination", disagreeing with the prosecution's objections. The prosecution stated that after further investigation and legal consultation, they decided to withdraw the charges, and the two defendants have been released.

According to community disclosures, the two are suspected to be BD of ME (the former blockchain media platform MetaEra).
