After a week of experiencing Vibe coding, I created an RSS aggregation reading AI interpretation website, replacing a previously paid app that had a poor experience. It was quite enjoyable, but during this process, I also gained a new understanding of Vibe Coding that demystifies it. Here are my thoughts:

1) Vibe Coding is essentially a productivity tool; it is about multiplication rather than addition. For "super individuals" who already possess product thinking, logical abilities, and even some programming foundation, it can transform a single person into a team, greatly expanding their capability boundaries.

However, it is ultimately just an enhanced skill, not a survival skill. Understanding Vibe Coding won't necessarily elevate someone from an ordinary job to a high-paying position in a big company, and not understanding Vibe Coding doesn't mean one will be left behind by the times.

2) Vibe Coding merely lowers the usage threshold but does not increase the upper limit of capabilities. For example, during the process of creating the RSS reader, the initial experience was quite "wow," as a single command could produce a usable interface, but complications arose when adding more complex requirements.

For instance, if you want to automatically check the status of the RSS source and deduplicate, or connect to backend storage and optimize the structure, you will find that it presents a bunch of seemingly professional but clearly buggy issues. AI will jump back and forth between several seemingly complex but ultimately unsolvable solutions, burning your tokens. In the end, you might realize that an experienced programmer could solve it with just a few lines of code and some environment configuration.

3) The tool form of Vibe Coding iterates quickly, so there’s no need to invest energy in learning it; initially, copying and pasting code for AI to handle was the norm, but now IDEs have directly embedded AI into the interface. In the future, even frontend and backend configurations might become foolproof.

If you spend a certain period learning to write precise prompts and some practical skills, it’s likely that with a major update of the platform, those skills will become obsolete.

4) Vibe Coding is not a savior for many; instead, it may become a crisis. After completing this RSS project, I began to criticize its reading experience in various ways, such as how often the RSS sources update, what to do if they become invalid, how much detail to retain in AI summaries, how to sort content from multiple information sources, and how to ensure my reading experience is considered. I found that a host of issues arose, but solving these problems was almost unrelated to coding ability; it requires a clearer understanding at the product and aesthetic level.

There’s a saying that when the cost of code generation approaches zero, the value of the code itself also approaches zero. Therefore, the real decisive factor lies in whether one has product taste and logical closure ability. The truly valuable programmers in the future will be a combination of product managers, architects, and designers; the era of solely relying on coding for a living may indeed be over.

5) Vibe Coding is a double-edged sword in the Crypto field. The advantage is that the learning ability and research drive of crypto natives allow them to use and master this skill more quickly than ordinary people, enabling them to build their own data analysis platforms, analyze trades independently, and experiment with AI trading logic. However, it also allows a large number of people who do not understand the underlying blockchain to flood in, generating a bunch of superficially functional but fundamentally risky code with AI.

In conclusion, Vibe Coding is not a revolutionary thing; it is essentially an efficiency tool. It is similar to how people have used Excel macros, Photoshop actions, and Notion templates over the years. Those who understand it can double their efficiency, while those who do not will not face significant issues.

Do not mythologize it, nor should you panic about it. Just maintain curiosity and try it out moderately.
