Solana will launch its highly anticipated native token, linked to its latest mobile model Seeker, in early 2026. This token will serve as the governance token for the company's mobile ecosystem.

Solana Mobile announced on Wednesday via a post on the X platform that the total supply of the "SKR" token will be 10 billion, with 30% allocated for airdrops and 25% reserved for growth and partnerships.

Additionally, 10% of the token supply will be used for liquidity, 10% for the community treasury, 15% will go to Solana Mobile, and 10% will go to Solana Labs (the parent company of this mobile division).

In May, Solana Mobile stated that it was planning to launch the SKR token, claiming it would give holders of the new Seeker smartphone, which comes pre-installed with crypto applications and features, "actual ownership of the platform."

The company shared that the token will adopt a "linear inflation mechanism to incentivize early participants," aimed at stakers; more details will be disclosed at the Solana Breakpoint conference, which will be held from December 11 to 13.

A key selling point for the Seeker is its decentralized application (DApp) store, which hosts over 100 Solana-based DApps. The company hopes to position this phone as more than just a "reward magnet" like its first model, Saga.

Despite some teething issues since its launch, Solana Mobile stated it will leverage the SKR token to enhance the DApp store and its surrounding ecosystem.

In addition to announcing SKR, Solana Mobile also introduced "Guardians," who will "validate trust" within its mobile ecosystem.

"Upon launch, SKR will serve as a growth and synergy mechanism: staking to Guardians, supporting builders, securing devices, and curating the DApp store," Solana Mobile stated. "As the ecosystem expands, SKR ensures its value flows back to the community driving the ecosystem."

On the user side, SKR holders can earn rewards by staking assets to Guardians. Solana Mobile will be the first Guardian, with others joining later in 2026, such as Helius Labs, Double Zero, and Triton One.

The post stated, "Guardians will verify device authenticity, review DApp submissions, and enforce community standards."

This news was accompanied by a slight increase in Solana's price, which was around $140 before the announcement. It is currently at $145.68, up 5.4% in the past 24 hours.
