Trump harshly criticized all voices of dissent, introduced a new healthcare reform plan, insisted that a 50-year mortgage "is not a big deal," denied the cost of living crisis, referred to Powell as a "terrible leader about to step down," and mocked Schumer for being destroyed by the Republicans.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News on Monday night, President Trump severely criticized overwhelmed air traffic controllers, attributed weak economic indicators to political opponents, and claimed that the increase in food stamp recipients has plunged "the nation into crisis."

In a conversation with Laura Ingraham, the president expressed views on a wide range of topics from housing mortgages to foreign policy, interspersed with attacks on political rivals prompted by Ingraham's questions—including California Governor Gavin Newsom and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

At the time of the interview's broadcast, the Senate was voting to end the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. Trump outlined his ideas for addressing healthcare subsidies, which are at the core of the funding impasse.

The Democrats have been pushing to extend the tax credit policy that makes healthcare costs under the Affordable Care Act more affordable for millions of Americans, but the credit measures are set to expire at the end of the year. Republicans have condemned the policy, arguing that it only benefits insurance companies.

"I want the funds to go into personal accounts so people can buy their own health insurance," he told Ingraham, suggesting that the strategy could be named "Trump Care," adding, "They will feel like entrepreneurs, truly able to negotiate their own insurance plans."

Ingraham also asked about Trump's posts on Truth Social criticizing air traffic controllers—many of whom have taken breaks from their high-stress jobs in recent weeks due to a nationwide staffing shortage leading to flight delays and safety concerns.

The Federal Aviation Administration was already facing a shortage of air traffic controllers when the government shutdown began. As paychecks stopped, the crisis worsened. According to the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, many are working up to 10 hours a day, six days a week without pay, struggling to make ends meet. Reports indicate that some have had to take on second jobs to maintain their income.

Meanwhile, thousands of flights have been canceled at the busiest airports across the country.

"Everyone's life is not easy," Trump stated during the interview, "Our country is in the best period in history, and we shouldn't let people leave their jobs."

Trump also reiterated his commitment in his posts to provide a $10,000 bonus to those who continued to work throughout the shutdown. When pressed about the source of the funding, he replied, "I don't know. I always find a way to get the money, it's not a problem."

When discussing other economic issues, Trump scoffed.

When Ingraham asked about the pressure of living costs and whether more price reduction measures were needed, Trump denied the existence of the problem: "Ultimately, this is a Democratic scam. Costs have dropped significantly."

When pressed about how the 50-year mortgage proposal would extend the repayment period by 20 years, he stated, "That's not a big deal at all." "I mean extending from 40 years to 50 years," he said, before being corrected by Ingraham, who pointed out it was from 30 years to 50 years.

Trump then seized the opportunity to criticize Biden and his "terrible Federal Reserve leader" Powell, claiming that the Fed chairman "is about to step down in a few months." "If a normal person were in charge, the Fed should maintain extremely low interest rates," he stated.

He reiterated his assertion that the U.S. economy is in the strongest state in history: "I think the polls are all fabricated. We are having the greatest economy in history."

The president responded comprehensively to all critical voices—whether from political opponents or allies.

"MAGA (Make America Great Again) is my philosophy. I understand the demands of MAGA better than anyone; they want to witness the nation's prosperity," he said in response to Ingraham's question about whether he had strayed from his base.

However, Trump did defend Republican policies and attributed the shutdown's outcome to Republican lawmakers—the ultimately passed funding compromise did not include subsidies for the Affordable Care Act.

When asked where Schumer, who is facing calls to step down, would go from here, Trump stated that the Democratic leader was simply too ambitious: "He thought he could crush the Republicans, but it turned out the Republicans destroyed him."
