MetaMask, Phantom, and other major crypto wallets have partnered with Security Alliance to launch a global phishing defense network. According to data, in the first half of 2025, crypto phishing attackers have stolen over 400 million in crypto assets.
The MetaMask team stated on Wednesday: "We have jointly launched a global phishing defense network that can provide protection for more users across the entire ecosystem."
SEAL indicated that the new defense network will help build a decentralized immune system in the field of crypto security. Any user worldwide can prevent the next major phishing attack.
This "decentralized immune system" includes MetaMask, Phantom, WalletConnect, and Backpack.
The system will work in conjunction with SEAL's "verifiable phishing report" system released last week. The new tool can help security researchers verify that malicious websites indeed contain phishing content as seen by users.
SEAL pointed out that crypto asset thieves are constantly adjusting their strategies to evade traditional defenses, and the problem is becoming increasingly serious.
New deceptive tactics include quickly changing phishing pages during blacklist updates, moving to overseas hosting when infrastructure is attacked, and using disguise techniques to evade automatic scanning.
MetaMask security researcher Ohm Shah stated: "Thieves and we are always engaged in a cat-and-mouse game."
Ohm Shah also mentioned that collaborating with SEAL allows the wallet team to be more agile, quickly applying research results to practice, "effectively disrupting the operational infrastructure of thieves."
This collaboration establishes a complete process where user-submitted reports will be automatically verified and shared among all participating wallets, providing immediate protection against emerging phishing threats.
SEAL added: "Any user can trigger real-time phishing warnings among network participants by submitting a valid report, without needing additional permissions."
According to CertiK data, phishing attacks were the most significant security incident in the first half of this year, resulting in over 400 million in stolen crypto assets.
