The decentralized exchange giant Uniswap has added support for the Solana network in its web application, allowing users to connect their Solana wallets and trade Solana-based tokens alongside tokens from other networks.
The company stated in a blog post that it is exploring bridging, cross-chain exchanges, and full Uniswap wallet support for Solana.
Solana transactions conducted in the web application will be routed through the Solana DEX aggregator Jupiter. Co-founder SIONG stated that Uniswap is the first major partner to use the Jupiter Ultra API for exchanges.
This collaboration will position Uniswap as a leader in the Solana DEX ecosystem, which has processed $140 billion in transaction volume over the past 30 days. During the same period, the Jupiter DEX aggregator generated $17.5 million in revenue.
A Uniswap engineer pointed out that the team's integration was not specifically developed for Solana but rather designed and built as a platform-agnostic architecture layer.
Meanwhile, Uniswap's trading engineering lead Danny Daniil stated that the integration of Solana will help Uniswap Labs' layer two network Unichain, launched in February, become the best trading chain.
Daniil said, "Bridging Solana and other ecosystems (like HYPE) assets to Unichain allows traders to access the best liquidity anywhere."
Earlier this month, 1inch co-founder Sergej Kunz stated that centralized exchanges will no longer exist in their current form over the next decade. He also noted that these exchanges will only serve as the front end for DEXs and DEX aggregators in the future.
In May, Uniswap became the first decentralized exchange to reach a cumulative total trading volume of $3 trillion.
