Ripple has acquired enterprise treasury management company GTreasury for $1 billion, as part of its strategy to expand business operations through acquisitions.
According to an announcement on Thursday, the deal provides Ripple with the infrastructure to manage digital assets within corporate treasuries, including stablecoins and tokenized deposits, which can be used to generate returns for clients.
GTreasury's corporate treasury management tools, combined with Ripple's blockchain infrastructure suite, enable funds to be accessed around the clock and facilitate near-instant settlement in cross-border transactions. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse stated:
The acquisition of GTreasury marks Ripple's third acquisition in 2025, following the $1.25 billion acquisition of major brokerage firm Hidden Road and the stablecoin platform Rail. Both acquisitions highlight the growing relationship between traditional finance and digital finance.
Ripple continues to sign partnerships with traditional financial companies and digital asset projects, committing to several deals in September and October.
Spanish banking institution BBVA signed an agreement with Ripple in September, designating the company as the custodian for digital assets held on behalf of BBVA's institutional clients.
Asset management firm Franklin Templeton, DBS Bank, and Ripple signed a memorandum of understanding in September to launch tokenized trading services on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) based on stablecoins and tokenized money market funds.
This partnership explores strategies for fund managers to switch between stablecoins and higher-risk digital assets to manage volatility and downside risk while maximizing return opportunities.
In October, Ripple partnered with Bahrain FinTech Bay (BFB) to provide digital asset custody services and integrate the RLUSD dollar-pegged stablecoin into the country's digital asset ecosystem.
BFB is a public-private partnership between the Bahraini government and technology companies focused on incubating fintech startups.
Ripple's acquisitions and partnerships are part of the company's broader effort to challenge the SWIFT interbank messaging system, which is the standard protocol used by financial institutions worldwide to transfer funds.
