A high-level discussion between Luxembourg’s finance ministry and the Ripple team highlighted the country’s intent to advance its leadership in Europe’s digital finance landscape. Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty and Managing Director for Europe Cassie Craddock shared details about their meeting with Luxembourg’s Minister of Finance Gilles Roth, where they discussed Ripple’s progress toward obtaining a license to operate in the country.

The talks took place as the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework continues to define regulatory clarity for digital asset firms across Europe. Roth stated on social media platform X:

Great meeting with Ripple, as they advance toward securing their license to operate in Luxembourg. We discussed their ambitions in Europe and Luxembourg, and I reaffirmed our commitment to digital innovation.

Alderoty underscored Europe’s regulatory progress, writing on X: “The EU led in creating comprehensive rules for digital assets – and nations like Luxembourg are leaning in.” He added, “Ripple is excited about our future in Luxembourg and the EU.”

Craddock also commented on Luxembourg’s position within the new MiCA environment, stating: “With MiCA now rolled out across the EU, nations like Luxembourg have the opportunity to take a global lead when it comes to developing their local digital assets industry.” She continued:

The conversation was extremely positive and I came away feeling that Luxembourg really understands the opportunity ahead.

The meeting underscored Luxembourg’s efforts to collaborate with fintech and blockchain firms as part of its broader economic strategy. Industry analysts view the exchange as an indicator of closer cooperation between regulators and digital asset companies. Supporters of the crypto sector say Luxembourg’s open stance, coupled with Ripple’s interest in compliance and innovation, strengthens Europe’s potential to become a global center for regulated digital finance.
