Ethereum Foundation Expands Privacy Commitments Across Blockchain Ecosystem

The Ethereum Foundation (EF) reaffirmed that privacy is essential to maintaining digital trust at scale, describing it as “the freedom to choose what you share, when you share it, and who you share it with.”

The EF emphasized that privacy protects individuals’ dignity, gives developers safer design options, allows institutions to operate securely, and safeguards democratic trust across society.

Coordinated by Igor Barinov, the new Privacy cluster combines early R&D from the Privacy and Scaling Explorations (PSE) team with new initiatives like Kohaku — an open-source, privacy-preserving wallet SDK.

Projects such as Semaphore, MACI, zkEmail, TLSNotary, and Anon Aadhaar demonstrate how applied cryptography can enhance identity, governance, and payments.

From protocol to application, the EF’s privacy strategy connects cryptographic research, developer tools, and institutional collaboration through the Institutional Privacy Task Force (IPTF).

The Ethereum Foundation said it aims to “make privacy feel normal,” signaling a long-term commitment to advancing confidentiality, accessibility, and security for all Ethereum users.
