Crypto markets are entering a period of renewed momentum, with investors, policymakers, and developers shaping what could be a defining phase for digital assets. Regulatory shifts, political changes in the United States, and record highs across leading tokens are signaling that the industry is gaining traction well beyond its speculative roots. Supporters argue this momentum points to long-term resilience and increasing integration of blockchain technologies into global finance.
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) drew attention to these shifts in a message posted on social media platform X on Sept. 29, linking his personal journey to broader industry progress. He reflected:
A year (and 2 days) ago, I got out of prison and finally left the US. What a year since then!
In assessing how political winds have shifted, he stated: “We saw the people of U.S. choosing a pro-crypto President and government, influencing policies all around the world.” He also emphasized that BNB, bitcoin, and ethereum each set fresh all-time highs, with developer participation expanding on BNB chain and across the wider ecosystem.
CZ was released from U.S. federal custody in September 2024, after completing a four-month sentence for failing to implement an effective anti-money laundering program at Binance. As part of his plea agreement, CZ is barred from a formal management role at Binance during a three-year probation but remains a major shareholder. Since his release, he has committed to focusing on education and philanthropy, including his Giggle Academy project, and has stated that he is advising governments on crypto and blockchain regulation. His ongoing advisory work, which includes a signed agreement to help develop Kyrgyzstan’s crypto ecosystem, ensures his influence remains significant in the global crypto sphere.
His remarks also addressed regulatory and structural adjustments underway. CZ stated:
We saw US SEC reversing its course of regulation-by-enforcement under new leadership.
He further pointed to the revival of utility tokens, growth in on-chain trading volumes, and educational impact through Giggle Academy, which has reached 50,000 children with free learning resources. Closing his post with a broader call to the community, he urged: “Be on the right side of history!”
