The blockchain content platform Lamina1, co-founded by science fiction writer Neal Stephenson and technology and creative leader Rebecca Barkin, has partnered with Consensys's Layer-2 network Linea to promote creator-owned content within the Ethereum (ETH) ecosystem.
According to Cointelegraph, this collaboration aims to transform digital storytelling by empowering creators to control their own intellectual property and connect directly with their communities.
The partnership has received investment support from Joe Lubin, co-founder of Ethereum (ETH) and CEO of Consensys, as well as Systemic Ventures. Lubin stated that Neal Stephenson is a significant figure in the cyberpunk genre, and Lamina1 is at the forefront of the on-chain content creation revolution.
Founded in 2022, Lamina1 is dedicated to helping artists, writers, and developers take control of their intellectual property and engage fans in the creative process. Since its launch, the platform has seen over 150,000 active addresses.
The first product on Linea, Spaces, aims to become a hub for interactive storytelling and creator-controlled IP.
The first project of Spaces, Artefact, was co-developed by Stephenson, Weta Workshop, and the Lamina1 team. It is a role-playing experience set in the AI era, where players can join different factions, collect data fragments, and drive the story forward.
Declan Fox, Vice President and Head of Linea, pointed out that Linea's zkEVM provides an ideal environment for creator-driven platforms like Lamina1 Spaces. The platform offers fast, low-cost, and secure block space, fully leveraging Ethereum's (ETH) decentralized advantages and supporting fully EVM-compatible development. ZK proofs enable rapid transaction finality between Ethereum (ETH) and Linea, promoting on-chain economic prosperity with maximum ZK-rollup.
Fox added that user data, digital assets, and creative IP on Linea are protected by the Verax platform. Verax is a proof platform that allows creators to attach verifiable credentials to their works. He noted that this infrastructure has provided millions of proof supports for applications like "Proof of Humanity."
Linea's zkEVM technology is designed specifically for scalable Ethereum (ETH) applications, featuring low fees and high performance. This expansion follows Linea's recent Token Generation Event, marking a strong momentum in the development of creative applications in the Ethereum (ETH) Layer-2 space.
Earlier this month, Joe Lubin stated that users who hold the new LINEA token for the long term may receive rewards in the future. He mentioned on the X platform that long-term token holders might qualify for airdrops from Consensys or other projects in the ecosystem.
Previously, the community expressed concerns about the actual use of the LINEA token following the Token Generation Event. Some users called for the team to open staking or lending features to give the token real value. Others criticized the project, claiming that LINEA is a "meme coin" lacking clear value beyond speculation.
