ETHShanghai Youth Odyssey
ETHShanghai Youth Odyssey is one of the most distinctive segments of ETHShanghai. It is specifically aimed at young developers in Asia, with the goal of lowering the barriers for their participation in top Web3 events, allowing more young people the opportunity to come to Shanghai and engage face-to-face with the world's best builders.
- Funding Scale: Selective admission among applicants, with each person eligible for a maximum transportation subsidy of 200U;
- Hackathon Co-Creation: Members of the Odyssey program are required to participate in the ETHShanghai concurrent hackathon, competing alongside global developers;
- Career Development Support: Outstanding participants will have the opportunity to join the community talent pool, gain project referral qualifications, and deeply engage in community building;
- Offline Meetup: In Shanghai, a special Odyssey Meetup will be held, inviting Ethereum Core Devs and quality project teams for on-site exchanges, broadening the horizons and understanding of young developers.
Project Process

- Rolling Admission Mechanism: We will continuously review application materials and announce selected candidates in batches at various time points. Those who have been selected do not need to reapply.
- Early Registration Recommended: Early batch registrants will have a better chance of securing their spots in advance.
Selection Criteria
If you are a passionate developer, researcher, designer, or operator interested in Ethereum and Web3! Whether you are a student just exploring blockchain or a builder with project experience, as long as you have enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and a desire to grow—this is your stage!
We will comprehensively assess each applicant through comprehensive weighted evaluation and interviews across four dimensions: technical ability, target audience, community contribution, and learning potential, ensuring the selection of fair, diverse, and promising young developers to join this Odyssey program!
Technical Ability and Project Experience (30%)
We hope you have explored coding, products, or research. Submitting a demo, participating in development, or having GitHub projects will be advantageous.
Target Audience (30%)
Considering transportation and participation costs, we will prioritize funding for under-resourced open-source and Ethereum contributors, especially developers who are students or have graduated within the last three years.
Community Participation (20%)
Have you written articles, translated materials, participated in community discussions, or done volunteer work? These contributions are equally important.
Learning Motivation and Potential (20%)
We want to see genuine enthusiasm and clear planning. Even with limited experience, as long as you demonstrate curiosity and commitment to Ethereum, you can score high.
Special Bonus Points
To encourage more outstanding young builders, we will give extra points to the following groups:
- Top 15 on the 2025 Summer Web3 Internship Program leaderboard;
- Winning teams from the casual hackathon "My First DApp";
- ETHShanghai volunteers.
The above criteria are for reference only, and the final interpretation rights belong to the organizers.

Past Reviews
Since its launch, the ETHPanda Youth Odyssey program has been dedicated to helping young developers in the Chinese-speaking region overcome language, cultural, and financial barriers to participate in international Ethereum events, promoting global ecological exchanges. In past events such as Devcon and ETHGlobal Bangkok, the program achieved fruitful results right from its inception. Funded teams won 1 Finalist (chosen from over 700 projects, only the Top 10) and 8 projects received a total of 17 awards across multiple tracks, with total prize money exceeding 22,000U.

The Odyssey program continues to evolve, extending to ETHAsia Youth Odyssey (Hong Kong Web3 Carnival) in April 2025, funding more young builders in Asia. Vitalik Buterin attended the event to engage with young developers, answering technical questions and discussing ecological prospects. This reflects our long-term commitment to young hackers: from financial support to career development, helping them integrate into the global Web3 ecosystem.

Registration for the ETHShanghai 2025 hackathon is now fully open! The ETHShanghai Youth Odyssey program is now accepting applications. Whether you are a newcomer just starting out or an experienced builder, you are welcome to come to Shanghai and together expand Ethereum · shape an open future, your Web3 journey starts here!
