Altcoin season is still rolling, and crypto die-hards on social media are reveling in the green candles. Grok’s data shows X feeds are buzzing, with hundreds of posts cheering on the trend. According to Grok, the wave of social media chatter lines up neatly with the Altcoin Season Index (ASI) breaking past the 75 out of 100 mark on Sept. 10.
Just after 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, the ASI stood at 80, according to Blockchain Center’s figures. The last time the ASI was this high was in December of last year.
At the same time, even as the ASI flashes altcoin season, plenty of skeptics insist they just don’t see it. “Holy sh**, the Altcoin Season Index just hit 84 – the highest this year,” exclaimed X influencer Lark Davis. But not everyone was convinced, with one user firing back: “Where is altcoin season? I can’t see it.”
Some argue this round of altcoin season is just a fleeting moment, unlikely to stick around for long. “This altcoin season is expected to last 5 days,” one X user warned. “Take profits — something bad is coming.” As of Sept. 13, 2025, at 4:23 p.m. Eastern, archived data shows blockchaincenter.net’s ASI is holding at 80.
It may be an altcoin season month, but it’s far from an altcoin season year. The site’s monthly score sits at 88 out of 100, while the 12-month reading lags at just 35. Since anything above 75 signals altcoin season, it means three-quarters of the top 50 altcoins have outpaced bitcoin’s market performance over the last 90 days.
Altcoin season’s latest flare-up has fans celebrating, but caution lingers in the air. The cycle of hype and fading momentum has played out repeatedly since 2021, leaving traders wary and longing for a long-term season. This one, so far, has risen almost as high as it once was in December 2024. Whether this moment signals a lasting shift or another fleeting burst, only time will decide the crypto market’s true direction ahead.
