Crypto exchange Bybit announced on Sept. 8 that Indian users can once again fully access its mobile application through Apple’s App Store and Google Play, with the company noting that its website will be restored in phases over the next several days. In outlining the development, Bybit stated:
This is after a wider effort in regulatory harmonization and a reflection of Bybit’s dedication to trust, transparency, and security for its increasing number of Indian users.
The restoration follows Bybit’s January registration with the Financial Intelligence Unit-India (FIU-IND) as a reporting entity under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, a measure that ensured alignment with India’s compliance framework.
The relaunch enables Indian traders to use Bybit’s full suite of services, including spot trading, derivatives, options, and copy trading. Partial access had already been provided in February to verified customers, but complete functionality across both the app and website required extended engagement with Indian regulators.
Vikas Gupta, Bybit India’s country manager, emphasized the long-term objectives beyond trading operations, pointing to plans to advance education, partnerships, and community-driven programs within the local digital asset market.
Ben Zhou, co-founder and chief executive officer of Bybit, characterized the move as a pivotal restart:
India is among the most promising digital asset markets globally. We are excited to resume normal business and reaffirm our devotion to delivering Indian users with secure, transparent, and world-class cryptocurrency experiences. It’s not a comeback, it’s a new chapter for Bybit in India.
Bybit has also increased its presence by sponsoring the India Blockchain Tour 2025, which began in Hyderabad and will continue in New Delhi later this month. Further expanding its reach, the company introduced the World Series of Trading 2025, offering incentives such as cars and iPhones to attract new participants and strengthen its footprint in India’s fast-growing crypto sector.
