Institutional Bets Favor Bitcoin With Ether Seeing $97 Million Exit

Investors came charging back into bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to start the week, while ether funds couldn’t shake off their red streak. The two majors continue to trade diverging paths, underscoring where institutional conviction is flowing.

Bitcoin ETFs logged $368.25 million in inflows on Monday, Sept. 8, their strongest showing since early September. Fidelity’s FBTC dominated with $156.50 million, followed closely by Ark 21Shares’ ARKB with $89.47 million. Bitwise’s BITB added $42.71 million, while Blackrock’s IBIT and Vaneck’s HODL contributed $25.48 million and $20.63 million, respectively.

Even the smaller players joined the green wave. Grayscale’s Bitcoin Mini Trust (+$11.91 million), Invesco’s BTCO (+$6.71 million), Franklin’s EZBC (+$6.49 million), Grayscale’s GBTC (+$4.40 million), and Valkyrie’s BRRR (+$3.96 million). Crucially, no bitcoin ETF saw an outflow. Total trading volume reached $3.02 billion, with net assets climbing to $145.41 billion.

Ether ETFs, by contrast, sank deeper into outflows. The group shed $96.69 million, marking their sixth consecutive day in the red. Fidelity’s FETH did provide a bright spot with $75.15 million in inflows, alongside $11.31 million for Grayscale’s Ether Mini Trust and $9.55 million for ETHE. But Blackrock’s ETHA saw a bruising $192.70 million exit, enough to wipe away the day’s gains. Total value traded came in at $1.52 billion, leaving net assets steady at $27.39 billion.

The split is becoming increasingly sharp: bitcoin ETFs are stacking steady institutional commitments, while ether ETFs remain weighed down by outsized redemptions. Whether this divergence continues could set the tone for crypto ETF flows through mid-September.
