The Solana ecosystem is boldly entering the hardware field with the upcoming launch of its first handheld gaming console.

Play Solana, a project focused on building Web3 gaming devices on the Solana blockchain, recently announced that it will begin selling its Play Solana Gen 1 (PSG1) device on October 6.

The device is equipped with professional gaming-grade hardware specifications, including an octa-core ARM processor, 8GB of memory, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, and a touch LCD display. Notably, it also features a built-in hardware wallet and fingerprint authentication system, allowing users to securely store their crypto assets while enjoying the gaming experience.

It is reported that the project has also launched a limited edition non-fungible token (NFT) series, providing early access and other ecosystem-exclusive privileges to 2,000 holders.

This release marks the continued deepening of the Solana ecosystem's layout in the consumer products field, following the strategic path of previous hardware experiments like the Saga smartphone.

In 2022, Solana Labs' subsidiary Solana Mobile launched the Saga, an Android-based smartphone focused on blockchain technology.

The device provides users with access to native Web3 tools, including Seed Vault, Solana Mobile Stack, and a decentralized application (DApp) store tailored for participants in the Solana ecosystem.

The launch of Saga elicited mixed reactions from community members but ultimately succeeded in 2023, sparking a wave of user enthusiasm.

In 2023, due to the free airdrop of the BONK meme coin that came with the phone, its price on eBay soared to $5,000, while its original price on the Solana Mobile official website was only $599.

In 2024, Solana Mobile launched the second generation of the phone, with company executives emphasizing that this product is not just a "meme coin phone."

According to the latest data, the phone's pre-order volume has reached 150,000 units for 2025, with expected revenue of $67.5 million. On August 5, Solana Mobile announced that it has begun selling the Seeker phone in over 50 countries worldwide.

In addition to Play Solana's PSG1, the blockchain network Sui is also actively laying out its presence in the physical Web3 gaming device market.

In 2024, the founding organization of the Sui blockchain, Mysten Labs, announced plans to launch SuiPlay0X1 in the first half of 2025, which will be a handheld gaming device deeply integrated with the Sui network.
