The Wyoming Stable Token Commission unveiled on Aug. 19 the mainnet launch of the Frontier Stable Token (FRNT), establishing Wyoming as the first U.S. public body to release a blockchain-based stable token. Commission leaders underscored the milestone:

This historic move marks Wyoming as the first public entity in the United States to issue a blockchain-based stable token.

“FRNT is designed to provide secure, transparent, and efficient digital transactions for individuals, businesses, and institutions – worldwide,” the announcement notes. Governor Mark Gordon, who serves as commission chair, tied the initiative to the state’s record of passing digital asset laws: “For years, Wyoming has been the leading state on blockchain, cryptocurrency, and digital asset regulation, passing over 45 pieces of legislation since 2016.”

The Wyoming Stable Token Commission, created under the Wyoming Stable Token Act in March 2023, was tasked with issuing fully collateralized stable tokens under strict fiscal oversight. Its framework mandates both transparency and financial safeguards.

The commission stressed FRNT’s structure: “The Frontier Stable Token will be fully backed by U.S. dollars and short-duration treasuries, held in trust for the benefit of token holders.” In addition, state law requires a 2% overcollateralization buffer. To ensure operational security and compliance, the commission partnered with LayerZero for issuance, Fireblocks for infrastructure, Franklin Advisers for reserve management, Inca Digital for intelligence services, and The Network Firm for monthly attestations and audits.

Distribution plans were also outlined, with the commission confirming: “FRNT will be made available for purchase on the Solana blockchain through Wyoming-domiciled digital asset exchange Kraken in the coming days, as well as Rain’s Visa-integrated card platform on the Avalanche blockchain. Public availability will be noticed with a distribution from this office and the Stable Token Commission.” According to the Wyoming government website:

FRNT has been deployed on seven blockchains: Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon, and Solana.
