🚨 Bybit Deposit Loss Incident|Same Address, Different Network, 7000U Cannot Be Recovered!?

This is a recent personal experience of asset loss, currently valued at around 7000U;

I write this hoping to remind everyone,

and I also hope @BybitOfficial @BybitZH can face this issue seriously and find a reasonable solution for similar cases in the future.

This was a transfer from my MetaMask wallet to BYBIT, but after a long time, there was no sign of the deposit, until I realized: I seemed to have transferred on the wrong network;

After multiple communications, Bybit's final response was: the token deposit cannot be successfully recovered, and they expressed sincere sympathy for my asset loss.

1️⃣ Here’s what happened:

As one of the earliest staking users on StakeStone @Stake_Stone, I unlocked the tokens after the PLUME mainnet went live. Out of habit, I transferred this portion of tokens from my MetaMask wallet to Bybit's PLUME deposit address.

However, a long time after the transfer was completed, there was still no sign of it arriving—only then did I realize that I might have transferred on the wrong network.

After multiple email communications, Bybit's final response was:

“Deposit cannot be recovered, and we express sincere sympathy for your asset loss.”

2️⃣ Why did this happen?

To be honest, I think this kind of thing is quite easy to happen: it’s actually a very easy “habitual operation” that can trap users:

🔹 Previously, the PLUME token unlock was on the Ethereum mainnet;

🔹 After the mainnet launch, the new tokens are on PLUME's own mainnet;

🔹 The problem is: the PLUME mainnet address and the ETH mainnet address are exactly the same (both are EVM-based), making it easy for users to continue using the original address for deposits.

In other words, the deposit address is the same, but the chains are different—leading to asset loss. And this detail has no clear reminder.

3️⃣ Is this really reasonable?

❌ Bybit currently does not support the PLUME mainnet, which I acknowledge. But:

👉 The address is the same!

👉 Blockchain assets are public and transparent!

👉 It’s just a matter of asset recognition on different chains!

This is technically not an unfeasible operation, as there is fundamentally no difficulty—clearly it’s the same address, and the assets are not lost, which easily leads everyone to think that Bybit simply chose “not to recover.”

4️⃣ How do other exchanges handle this?

For example, I checked @bitgetglobal:

✅ They clearly distinguish between the PLUME network vs ETH network on the deposit interface;

✅ The same address, but they prompt you to select the correct network;

✅ This is responsible for user experience and security.

5️⃣ Some suggestions for Bybit:

As a leading exchange, facing this technically solvable issue, I think Bybit should still provide a solution rather than just offering a statement of “sympathy.” This is not a matter of who is right or wrong, but whether they are willing to prioritize user asset security.

Because this is just a simple action, a small effort!

So here are some suggestions for @benbybit:

The boss has always been known for getting things done, and Bybit has been in a state of rapid development, so everyone’s suggestions will help you do even better. I hope you can listen to the voices of users!

@BybitZH @BybitOfficial @Bybit_Web3

6️⃣ A reminder for everyone:

Indeed, I also had a problem; I transferred on the wrong network without paying attention, assuming that since the address was the same, it would be fine!

So here’s a piece of advice:

📌 Before using an exchange, always check if the network matches!

📌 Don’t fall into the same “habitual operation” trap as I did!

Please also help to share and spread this, so more people can see it, and I hope Bybit can face this issue seriously to prevent more users from making the same mistake.
