The personal items auctioned by Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht have attracted over $1.8 million worth of Bitcoin, with collectors vying to bid on these historical cryptocurrency artifacts.

Earlier this year, Ulbricht, who received a presidential pardon from Donald Trump, offered a range of items through the market platform Scarce City, accepting only Bitcoin.

These collectibles include personal items from before his arrest in 2013, such as a sleeping bag, backpack, and drum, as well as prison memorabilia like locks, notebooks, clothing, and several paintings created during his incarceration.

"I've left the Arizona prison where I was serving my sentence. It's time to travel. That means downsizing my luggage and turning a new page," Ulbricht wrote on the auction page. "I don't need these reminders, and I'm sure some of you would love to have them."

One standout item, Ulbricht's final prison ID, sold for 11 Bitcoins—worth over $1.1 million at current prices. "The guards tried to make me not smile for the photo, but my happiness comes from within," Ulbricht commented. "So I smiled that day, even though I was in prison."

A painting created in collaboration with a fellow inmate known as "Omega" also garnered significant attention, fetching a top bid of 1.01 Bitcoins. "It gave me a feeling that if I could travel back in time, there would be better things on the other side," Ulbricht said of the artwork.

To participate in the auction, bidders must pay a 1% deposit of their bid amount. Last-minute bids reset the countdown timer to ensure fair competition.

Final payments must be completed by June 2, with Bitcoin as the preferred payment method, although smaller amounts can also be paid via PayPal.

In addition to raising $1.8 million from the auction and receiving substantial donations from the community, Ulbricht may also be able to access millions worth of Bitcoin.

Coinbase director Conor Grogan recently pointed out that approximately 430 Bitcoins (currently valued at about $47 million) remain in wallets likely associated with Ulbricht. These wallets have been inactive for over 13 years and have never been seized by authorities.

"I found about 430 Bitcoins spread across dozens of wallets related to Ross Ulbricht that have not been confiscated by the U.S. government and have been inactive for over 13 years," Grogan revealed on the X platform.

Blockchain analysis firm Arkham Intelligence confirmed Grogan's assessment, tracking 14 Bitcoin addresses associated with Silk Road. One of these wallets alone holds over $9 million in Bitcoin.
