U.S. Traders Gain Uninterrupted Access to Crypto Futures with Coinbase’s Latest Launch

Coinbase has unveiled 24/7 trading for bitcoin and ethereum futures, marking a significant milestone as the first CFTC-regulated exchange in the U.S. to offer continuous access to leveraged crypto futures.

Starting May 9, traders can engage in futures trading at any time, aligning with the always-on nature of the crypto markets. According to the announcement, this development allows for real-time risk management and the ability to capitalize on market movements without the constraints of traditional trading hours.

“The arrival of 24/7 CFTC-regulated markets is a game-changer for the industry. Coinbase Financial Markets is thrilled to be able to provide seamless, around-the-clock access to futures trading, empowering our customers to trade anytime on Coinbase Advanced,” said Andy Sears, CEO, Coinbase Financial Markets.

Coinbase Derivatives facilitates this service, with all trades cleared through Nodal Clear, a CFTC-regulated clearinghouse, ensuring transparency and compliance. Liquidity is supported by market makers like Virtu Financial, and access is available through Futures Commission Merchants such as ABN AMRO, Wedbush Securities Inc., and Coinbase Financial Markets.

Looking ahead, Coinbase plans to introduce perpetual-style futures contracts, providing U.S. traders with access to one of the most widely used derivatives products in the crypto space within a regulated environment.

This move positions Coinbase at the forefront of integrating traditional financial structures with the dynamic world of cryptocurrency, offering traders enhanced flexibility and continuous market engagement.
