The artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot arena has a new leader. Xai, the AI company owned by Elon Musk, has launched Grok 3, the latest iteration in its line of chatbot applications. The new implementation was touted as beating other rivals from Openai and Chinese company Deepseek, which was promoted as smarter and cheaper than its counterparts.

Alongside Grok 3, Musk also presented Deep Search, a product that acts as a next-generation search engine, combining AI algorithms and search optimizations.

Musk stated the product was trained using Xai’s “Colossus,” a supercomputer powered by over 100,000 Nvidia-branded graphics processing units (GPUs). Musk remarked that Xai had doubled the power of Colossus for training Grok 3.

Musk asseverated Grow 3 was “an order of magnitude more capable than Grok 2 in a very short period of time,” highlighting the speed of Xai’s iteration process to be at the top of the industry.

These claims are supported by the score of an early version of Grok 3 received in Chatbot Arena, a tool that allows for benchmarking the performance of AI models in several aspects of knowledge.

Grok 3’s model, identified as chocolate, currently sits at the top of Chatbot Arena’s leaderboard with 1402 points. Two different versions of Gemini, Google’s AI model, trail in second and third place, followed by Openai’s Chatgpt in fourth.

“We should emphasize that this is kind of a beta, meaning that you should expect some imperfections at first, but we will improve it rapidly, almost every day,” Musk noted.

While the previous version of Grok will continue to be available for free X users, Grok 3 will be rolled out to premium subscribers on Tuesday. In addition, the model will be offered separately through the company’s web and app subscriptions.

Grok 3’s launch marks an acceleration in the AI model industry, which was recently shaken by the irruption of Deekseep into the arena.
