Currently, it remains unclear who Trump will select as his Vice President (VP), yet on Polymarket, a hefty $42 million bet is tracking Trump’s VP selection.

As of Sunday, Jun. 23, 2024, Polymarket’s odds indicate a 36% likelihood for an unidentified male to become Trump’s VP pick, suggesting that Trump’s ultimate choice might not yet be featured in Polymarket’s list. J.D. Vance (R-OH), the author of the 2016 best-seller “Hillbilly Elegy,” follows the dark horse as a key contender.

Vance first ventured into politics with a 2021 Senate campaign in Ohio, securing the Republican nomination with Trump’s endorsement. According to Polymarket, Vance currently stands a 15% chance of being chosen as Trump’s VP. The next likely candidate is Byron Donalds, a U.S. Representative for Florida’s 19th congressional district, with an 11% chance per the predictions market.

Ben Carson is seen with a 10% probability of joining Trump, while Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the 47th governor of Arkansas, holds an 8% likelihood. Marco Rubio is given a 7% chance, and Tim Scott, the Republican Senator from South Carolina, has a 6% chance. The probability for an unlisted female candidate stands at about 4%. Intriguingly, Vivek Ramaswamy is at the bottom with a 1% chance, with Robert Kennedy Jr. just ahead with 2%.

The wager may not mirror actual sentiment as Ramaswamy is often touted as a leading VP candidate for Trump on social media. Candace Owens, the American conservative commentator, said she favors Vivek Ramaswamy or Republican House member Thomas Massie for VP. Owens also mentioned she would abstain from voting for Trump if he opted for neoconservatives like Nikki Haley, Tom Cotton, or Mike Pompeo.
