NVIDIA is one of the traditional tech companies that really interests me.

I suggest everyone take some time to look up its growth process online. I believe that everyone will benefit greatly from reading about it.

Initially, when NVIDIA was just established, the field it aimed at was not well-regarded, because the gaming industry it wanted to serve did not have a large market at the time (in fact, even now, this field is not particularly "sexy"). The reason Huang Renxun's angel investors invested in him to a large extent was because of the reputation of his former boss.

After NVIDIA went public in 1999, its stock performance was good and it also underwent several stock splits. Its stock price rose from less than $0.5 at the time of its IPO in 1999 to $60 at the beginning of 2020, an increase of over 100 times in 20 years.

Its market has been steadily expanding from the initial gaming graphics cards, to later being used for mining, and then for cloud computing. These markets are all good, but they all have visible ceilings.

NVIDIA's stock price truly began to soar in 2022. From that year, its stock price soared from $121 at the beginning of the year to $1200 now, a tenfold increase in just over 2 years.

We all know the reasons for this: NVIDIA's chips have become an indispensable core resource for AI applications, and AI will permeate all aspects of our lives in the near future, making this market unimaginably large.

Looking at NVIDIA's growth history, I believe its true transformation has benefited from the rise of AI. Before that, its position could be considered as icing on the cake. Since then, its position can be said to be unique for at least the next few years.

So as investors, even if we missed the first 20 years, as long as we seize 2022, we can all gain substantial profits.

In fact, for investors of our age group, this is an event we have personally experienced. If we pay attention to the development of the technology industry, have independent thinking and judgment, we have the opportunity to seize such opportunities.

To be able to seize the opportunities brought by the great changes of the times, on the one hand, investors need profound insight and keen judgment, but on the other hand, investors also need a certain degree of foresight.

In this regard, the investment experience of Cathie Wood from ARK Invest in NVIDIA is very worthy of our study and contemplation.

Cathie Wood bought NVIDIA in 2013. In 2015, after the rise of autonomous driving and deep learning, she further increased her holdings in NVIDIA.

In that era, autonomous driving and deep learning were just emerging, and the specific application scenarios and business models were not very clear. It was not easy to dare to increase holdings in such a scenario. From this point, it can be seen that her insight and judgment are quite good.

However, at the beginning of 2023, she sold a large amount of NVIDIA, giving the reason that she believed NVIDIA might follow in the footsteps of IBM. In this regard, I think she could be more forward-looking. At least for the next few years, it will be difficult to challenge NVIDIA's position.

Of course, solely from her investment performance in NVIDIA, she is already outstanding, but from the perspective of project investment, I think there is still room for improvement.

I found similar phenomena in Cathie Wood's investments in the cryptocurrency field. Compared to retail investors who entered this field earlier, her entry point for buying Bitcoin was not very cheap, but in the long run, it was not bad either. However, her selling point is a bit hard to understand, and I don't quite understand her train of thought.

So from Cathie Wood's investment experience, I believe that for the assets we are optimistic about and have participated in, we should pay attention to their sustainability, and not prematurely let go of the potential chips in our hands due to insufficient foresight, thus missing out on rare opportunities.
