The event focused on key themes such as the dialogue between the East and West on Bitcoin, scalability, and decentralized finance, aiming to provide participants with an in-depth insight into the current status and future development of the Bitcoin ecosystem.

On May 11th, Hong Kong time, "Scaling Bitcoin Together" was successfully held in Hong Kong. Following the "Bitcoin Layer 2 Conference Hong Kong 2024 - East & West" in April, ScaleBit (the blockchain security team under BitsLab) embarked on another innovative exploration journey for the Bitcoin ecosystem.

This offline event, featuring keynote speeches, roundtable discussions, and networking sessions, focused on the dialogue between the East and West on Bitcoin, scalability, and decentralized finance (DeFi), aiming to provide participants with a deep insight into the current status and future development of the Bitcoin ecosystem.

01 Conference Recap

This event was an important peripheral event of "Bitcoin Asia," attracting over 50 companies and institutions globally focusing on the innovation and development of the Bitcoin ecosystem, as well as over 300 developers and enthusiasts. It also invited several core builders and technical experts as keynote speakers, and provided exhibition booths for high-quality projects. The event included 6 keynote speeches and 3 roundtable discussions, promoting communication, sharing, and collaboration among participants in the Bitcoin ecosystem.

The event was co-hosted by ScaleBit, a blockchain security team providing secure solutions for Web3 Mass Adoption, in collaboration with Rollup Citrea, the first to enhance Bitcoin's block space capacity through zero-knowledge technology, and Particle Network, a mobile-first, data-driven, and composable Web3 development platform. 【Opening Remark】

In the opening remarks, Murat Karademir, co-founder of Citrea, extended a warm welcome to all participants and outlined the highlights and vision of the event, officially kicking off another innovative exploration journey for the Bitcoin ecosystem.

【Keynote by BeL2】

Jonathan Hargreaves, Global Head of Growth Elastos/BeL2, delivered a keynote on "BeL2 and Global Consensus - A Model for Scaling Bitcoin," detailing BeL2's vision, highlights, architecture, and emphasizing key points of BTC Loan.

【Keynote by ZKM】

Annie Zhao, Head of Growth at ZKM, presented "Natively Extend BTC via ZKM - Entangled Rollup Network," introducing ZKM from multiple dimensions such as project achievements, vision, technical architecture, solutions, and development roadmap, aiming to build a sustainable Bitcoin economy.

【Keynote by Citrea】

Orkun Mahir Kilic, co-founder of Citrea, delivered a keynote on "Bitcoin as the Foundation of World’s Finance," introducing Citrea as Bitcoin's first ZK Rollup and its significant features, and sharing how developers can build High Speed Orderbooks, AMMs, and Liquidity Markets on Citrea, leveraging Bitcoin's natural characteristics.

【Keynote by Lorenzo Protocol】

Matt Ye, CEO of Lorenzo Protocol, presented "LORENZO - Bitcoin Liquidity Finance Layer," providing an in-depth analysis of the Bitcoin Liquidity Finance Layer and introducing complex financial products such as yield swap exchange, lending protocols, and structured Bitcoin yield products based on Lorenzo LRTs, as well as sharing its development roadmap.

【Keynote by ScaleBit】

ScaleBit blockchain researcher Zorrot Chen presented on "OpenTap: An Open Source Tapscript Lib," pointing out that OpenTap is an open-source Bitcoin Script library. Its significant advantages are mainly demonstrated through the Tapscript Library and Integrated Demo, and he provided a comprehensive technical overview, related concepts, and operational points of OpenTap from a technical perspective.

【Special Announcement by Bitcoin Layers】

Janusz, the project lead of Bitcoin Layers, delivered a keynote on "Bitcoin Isn’t Special," using the current status of most Bitcoin L2s as a starting point to share a comprehensive overview of the Bitcoin layer 2 solution market matrix, as well as valuable scalability strategies for Bitcoin such as collaborative research and open-source code.

【Closing Remark: ScaleBit】

In the closing remarks, Paul Li, co-founder of ScaleBit, summarized the successful conclusion of the event, expressed gratitude to all participants, and introduced ScaleBit, a blockchain security team under BitsLab that focuses on Bitcoin Layer 2, ZKP, and cross-chain applications.

【Panel: Bitcoin East & West】

Hosted by Nicole Liu, founding partner of Comma3 Ventures, the panel discussed "Bitcoin East & West," exploring how the global Bitcoin community will collaborate to overcome the decentralized nature of supporters and communities between the East and West. They also discussed the most challenging issues currently facing Bitcoin ecosystem builders and the market trends following the recent cooling of the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Hosted by Amanda Cassatt, CEO and founder of Serotonin, the panel analyzed "DeFi on Bitcoin: Past Promises vs. Present Possibilities," examining whether changes in the Bitcoin ecosystem will reignite enthusiasm for Bitcoin's L2s and DeFi. They also discussed the user identity and trend changes of Bitcoin's DeFi and applications, as well as the selection criteria and evaluation standards for Bitcoin's L2s and DeFi, and predicted the next major milestone or unlocking time for Bitcoin scalability.
