Anoma's testnet is the first step in launching a decentralized operating system for the protocol. It introduces an intent-centric architecture through a gamified educational experience. Users are invited into a fully explorable 3D environment that intuitively demonstrates how applications interact with solvers within the blockchain network.
Anoma, a decentralized operating system providing a unified application layer for Web3, today launched the initial version of its testnet. This testnet showcases Anoma's next-generation intent-centric architecture through an interactive educational experience, proving that the network can unify underlying blockchains under a single interface, serving both users and developers.
“Traditional smart contracts and virtual machines create unnecessary limitations that hinder the competition between Web3 and Web2 applications,” said Anoma co-founder Adrian Brink. “The Anoma testnet is the first step in demonstrating how an intent-centric architecture can ultimately provide the unified user-friendly experience that Web3 needs. By abstracting infrastructure and eliminating complexity, we empower developers to build a single application that can run across any chain, with the flexibility and usability that users expect from Web2.”
Anoma's role as a Web3 operating system is akin to that of Windows in a unified PC environment. The platform addresses issues of blockchain fragmentation, broken composability, and multi-chain complexity by enabling applications to settle on any blockchain based on user intent rather than transactions.
Anoma has established partnerships with blockchain projects such as Celestia, EigenLayer, Near, and RiscZero, with application developers building various use cases on Anoma's development network, ranging from AI agents to private DeFi, private messaging, and decentralized physical infrastructure (DePIN).
Following the testnet, Anoma will begin rolling out its mainnet features across multiple Layer 1 (L1) and Layer 2 (L2) solutions. This marks a key step in reducing complexity and eliminating platform lock-in, decoupling decentralized applications from blockchains for the first time in Web3. Its architecture embodies third-generation blockchain design, transitioning from rigid virtual machine systems to flexible, intent-driven networks where applications can flow freely within the underlying infrastructure. The testnet demonstrates how this approach achieves true universal composability for Web3.
Anoma also contrasts sharply with traditional testnet designs through its 3D interface, which visualizes the flow of intent between the Anoma operating system and different blockchain networks, providing users and developers with an interactive educational experience. This visual approach offers an engaging way for users to learn about intent-centric applications and system interactions, highlighting how intent can seamlessly move across different domains. Unlike traditional blockchain testnets that focus on technical demonstrations and transaction throughput, Anoma's testnet prioritizes education and exploration.
“We are taking a new approach to the testnet,” said Anoma co-founder Christopher Goes. “We are not incentivizing users to perform repetitive transactions in hopes of an airdrop; instead, we are trying to build an engaging educational world where people can explore how intent operates in a distributed operating system while having fun. The 3D interface provides a visual representation of the flow of intent within the network, helping users build an accurate high-level understanding of how the system actually works.”
The testnet is now live at testnet.anoma.net, allowing users to experience the actual operation of the Anoma architecture firsthand. Developers are invited to start building on Anoma immediately.
About Anoma
Anoma is a decentralized operating system providing a unified application layer for all of Web3. With Anoma, developers can write an application that runs on any chain. Anoma frees developers from the complexities of infrastructure, allowing them to focus on what truly matters: building applications and experiences that people love. Anoma introduces the next generation of intent-centric architecture, optimizing application development and user experience, enabling Web3 to support a rich ecosystem of applications that can ultimately compete with the functionalities and experiences of Web2.
