Twitter is the platform with the highest information density in the cryptocurrency industry, where almost all projects conduct their earliest brand expansion and user growth, making it a scene with the most early alpha information in the industry. Nowadays, thousands of projects flood the Twitter information stream every day, making it quite difficult to efficiently discover and filter early alpha information. Besides detailed research on project introductions and products, the Twitter follows of well-known figures have become an important signal for many users to judge the prospects of a new project.
However, on the Twitter page, users can only see which accounts they follow are following a particular project, without a specific timeline, and the accounts they follow often have limitations.
In a recent update, RootData has launched the Twitter follow timeline feature, which displays which accounts follow or unfollow each Twitter account daily. This not only covers over 30,000 projects/institutions and individuals included in the database but also includes all unlisted Twitter accounts, meaning anyone can search and see which well-known cryptocurrency Twitter accounts are following or unfollowing their own or others' Twitter accounts.
Additionally, for over 5,000 well-known Twitter accounts that have been included, users can see which accounts they followed and unfollowed each day. All follow and unfollow data for Twitter accounts comes from these more than 5,000 well-known Twitter accounts.
With this feature, we can discover many interesting pieces of information by tracking the follow streams of well-known accounts, such as who the earliest followers of a skyrocketing project are, which cryptocurrency projects cz and Musk have recently followed or unfollowed, and which projects and individuals have been unfollowed the most recently, etc.
Taking the recent popular project BUILDon as an example, through the Twitter follow timeline, we can see that the Australian lion brother and Enheng had already followed the project's Twitter on May 16, while its token B only started to rise significantly and gained more attention from KOLs on May 22.
Let's also look at the proxy browser project Donut, which recently raised $7 million. On its Twitter follow timeline, Laughing, Chung-Hsun Chang Chien, Jerry Zhou, Mike Tomaino, and Enheng are among the relatively early well-known followers.
Through data analysis of more projects, we can compile statistics on which KOLs followed early alpha projects earlier, but due to some follow data having insufficient statistical periods, more quantitative statistics will be released in 1-2 months.
At the same time, we can also view the follow and unfollow dynamics of well-known figures, such as how recently someone followed Rita, Chuanmu, and Diaoke, while unfollowing Bingwa, and Zhao Changpeng recently unfollowed Zishi and Travala.com accounts.
To avoid the hassle of users needing to click through different pages to view follow dynamics, we have also launched the X follow data aggregation page, where users can directly view the follow and unfollow dynamics of over a hundred top Twitter accounts daily. The screenshot below shows the summary data for May 29.
Another interesting piece of data is which projects and individuals have been followed the most in recent months? Which have been unfollowed the most?
