The madness of BOME has made the presale of meme coins a market-acceptable gameplay, but this issuance method, which relies on the integrity of the project party, still carries extremely high risks.
Yesterday, a meme named "ticker" started its presale on Base, with a maximum of 0.1 ETH per account. It adopted PartyDAO fundraising, with over 13,000 participants, including Jesse Pollak, the head of the Base protocol, and received nearly 1000 ETH.
Unexpectedly, it was discovered last night that after the token went online, the Ticker project party transferred out 254 ETH.
Subsequently, on Warpcast, the official website account of Ticker forwarded the sales record to say, "Just saw this, the airdrop deployer just made a huge mistake. Will share all public information. Sorry for choosing the wrong person to execute this task."
Jesse Pollak, a core contributor to Base and the head of the protocol, retweeted this post and commented, "not based." Previously, Jesse had retweeted project information and commented "based."
Even more absurdly, the official account of Ticker later released a screenshot of a Telegram chat between Ticker developers, with the purple being the Ticker Warpcast account controller, who is suspected to be another member of the team. The conversation on the left side questioned why the other party did this, and all efforts were ruined by him. The other party replied, "Don't panic, take a deep breath. I just drew a DILDO (penis) on the price chart."
After the above farce, the price of TICKER plummeted to zero, which is equivalent to a soft rug pull.
Today, someone found that the Ticker project party had transferred the money to Solana using a bridge. Someone tagged blockchain detective ZachXBT, and Zach even dug up the developer's phone number. After much back and forth, the official account of Ticker stated that they will refund the ETH.
Interestingly, this morning, a meme coin named "DILDO" was also deployed on Base. Although it has also gone to zero, it has created the best footnote for this farce, which is also the essence of meme coins, mocking and dissolving everything.
